There is a great talent within the Emirati youth, and with the right opportunities, their potential can truly shine, making the future look bright. Interacting with the new joiners and interns, I tried focusing on some "uncommon" skills. The incredibly powerful tool of #activelistening to understand the others, focusing on the present moment without distraction. I conducted specific training on this, and people loved it! How mastering own emotions and understanding those of the people around you through #emotionalintelligence can drive success for everyone involved. The importance of communication, building trust, and fostering relationships with active #teambuilding. Working together as a team is often more productive than sitting alone in front of your laptop all day. I emphasized the importance of #understandingcontracts, whether it's a tenancy agreement, a mortgage, a construction contract or the privacy policy of a new app. Knowing what rights and obligations you have is a crucial skill in any discipline. This experience made me realize that it is also critical to recognize the revolutionary force that Gen. Z brings to the workplace. Consider the attitude of new Olympic athletes, whether they win or not—they are generally humble, appreciative of the experience, and thankful for the opportunity. What are your thoughts about this?

Came to Korea wanting to leave, but now I’m leaving wanting to stay. 😢 As my summer internship at CLIFF Communication comes to an end, I’m reflecting on a journey that has been both challenging and transformative. Committing to an internship in a different country wasn’t easy. When I received the offer, I debated whether to take the leap and adapt to a whole new environment alone or wait for something closer to home. After many back-and-forth conversations with friends, I decided to take the risk. The start wasn’t easy—navigating the hot humid weather, getting pushed on subway escalators, and struggling to fully express myself were just a few of the challenges. At one point, I was counting the days until I could return to the US and even considered booking a flight back to SFO as soon as possible. But I stuck with it, and I’m so glad I did. I’ve made unforgettable memories and shared countless laughs with amazing people. I’ve learned how crucial company relations are and how they can make work life so much more enjoyable. Though my major isn’t in advertising, the support of my coworkers and mentors helped me apply my skills in ways I never imagined.I even gained new physical skills, like adding motion effects in video advertising, mastering layout design in InDesign, and using various design tools for print advertisements. Their passion ignited a similar passion in me, and I’m leaving with a newfound confidence to explore different fields and apply my growing skills to new projects. Now, I have people in Korea I want to work hard to meet again. "The Intern" One of my favorite movies, The Intern, starring Anne Hathaway and Robert De Niro, tells the story of a retired senior who returns to the workforce through a senior internship program. The film beautifully illustrates the value of experience, mentorship, and intergenerational collaboration. I believe this concept could be effectively integrated into Malaysia’s workforce ecosystem, especially as the country moves toward becoming an ageing society in the coming years. While industries like safety and e-hailing may have adopted aspects of this model, I see potential for it to be expanded much further, as portrayed in the film. Of course, extensive research would be required, including studies on industry acceptance, talent readiness, and the potential impact on opportunities for younger generations or fresh graduates. However, we can’t know the full benefits unless we try.
