For me, the tech ecosystem has evolved significantly, from delivering scalable solutions to recruiting superstar techies who do the same. While a layer of abstraction has been introduced in my life, not much has changed for me operationally, or perhaps I am attempting to keep engineering practices intact and introduce into recruitment? Why not? Here's a glimpse into a day in the life of a technical recruiter, attempting to draw parallels with my old engineering days: Daily internal meeting at a certain time - Daily standups (some view this as a tool to get everyone to office in time) Client Meetings/Hiring discussions - Problem statement identification / Requirement analysis (the old cliche still holds true, identification is half the problem solved) Candidate Mapping/Assessment - Research/Evaluation/Tech stack selection/Prototyping (Horses for courses) Process engagement - Development/Unit testing/Findings/Reiteration (The Grind) Market mapping, and Offer discussion - Cloud assessment/Pre-production deployment Offer acceptance, and engagement - Go-live/Monitoring/Optimization (Can sleep now, oh wait, can you?) Fortnightly review - Sprint (team) review/grooming/demo In an honest effort to bring a positive change in tech recruitment, I hope that one day, I could put all these in a "for loop" and break free when I want to.
