⛔️🚨Omni Hotels Were Hacked On March 29🚨⛔️ What did that mean for you? Not much if you were not staying at an Omni. But, if you were there through April 7th, here is what it was like for : 1. 💳 your hotel card did not work. 2. 🚫 Paying for your food and drinks was harder. 3. 📞 phone systems probably not working. 4. 🛗 elevators probably down. It was different. What is the point in me telling you about this? Have a plan! An incident response plan. What is that? Basically a guide on what to do, how to continue working and providing service if you have been hacked, ransomed, or your technology is down. The Omni was prepared for this. They turned the manual switch on and knew how to deliver their service to their patrons with little distribution. If you don't have a plan or you need help with one… reach out to us for help. Every business should have one. https://lnkd.in/eaKMxXE4+To+You+Technology+Solutions&utm_campaign=publer #incidentresponseplan #ransomwareattack #hacked #omnihotel #cybersecurity

'Is it safe to use hotel Wi-Fi?' According to a study conducted by PwC, the hospitality industry ranks second (after the retail industry) in terms of total number of cyber security breaches. Mainly because it’s fairly easy to gain access to a hotel’s Wi-Fi network. Some don’t even require passwords. And even those that do require passwords usually need only a name or room number to sign in to the network. That type of information can be found with just a little snooping... While some hotels have taken steps to update their infrastructure and keep guests secure while browsing online, there are additional steps you can take on your own to protect your personal information. Cybersecurity cannot be overemphasized
2: The Dangers of Unsecured Wi-Fi Networks in Hotels Providing free Wi-Fi is a standard amenity in hotels but presents a significant security risk if not properly secured. Unsecured or poorly secured Wi-Fi networks can be a playground for cybercriminals. What’s the Risk? Hackers can easily intercept data transmitted over an unsecured network, including guest credit card information, personal details, and sensitive internal communications. How to Secure It: Use WPA3 Encryption: Ensure all Wi-Fi networks are secured with the latest encryption standards. Separate Guest and Staff Networks: To minimize risks, create distinct networks for guest use and internal operations. Regular Audits: Conduct frequent security audits to identify and address vulnerabilities in your Wi-Fi network. By securing your hotel’s Wi-Fi, you’re not just protecting your guests—you’re protecting your business.
