Catch the Bees When I was in first grade at Will Rogers Elementary School in Stillwater, we used to play a game called Catch the Bee. Catch the Bee was very simple: a bunch of us, mainly the boys and me - I don't think I ever really realized I was a girl until fourth grade- we’d go out into the playground and, with a plastic baggie, go and hunt for a bee. Whoever found a bee would call everybody else and then try and see if we could catch it in the plastic baggie. If someone caught one, everybody else would circle excitedly, count to three, and run for their lives. At the count of three, the baggie was opened, and understandably so, and a furious bee wanted answers. We were wild, different, risk-takers, and unique. Every one of us hunted and released differently. Everyone had a different way of running away. Some were in pairs, some zigzagging, and others would just lay flat on the ground. We were different, unique, and happy to be so. I think about it now: fast forward more decades than I care for. Even my kids are adults now. I run at the gym now. I focus on being better at everything- I’m not sure I focus on being me, on being different. I wonder if we've lost some of that spirit of catching our bees. I think catching our bees was our way to live the world and experience every day as they were: it’s okay to be exciting and a little bit risky, especially when doing it with others and going for it 100%. And it doesn't matter; of course, we would get stung, but it was more important to be in the moment, part of something bigger and exciting: to live in the present. So I wonder today, how do we stay in that field more often? How do we get back to catching your bees? #spiritofadventure #living #differentinthemoment

We somehow managed to miss World Anteater Day a couple of days back, but regardless, here's the video from our anteater tongue feeder box that was created at Yorkshire Wildlife Park Ltd during one of our recent Team builds. The group created four of these feeders over the build, but every 40 minutes the groups were completely changed around to really mix things up. It was interesting to see how with each group change, the dynamics shifted, there was sharing of ideas and skills, and it worked brilliantly. The box feeder is a simple design that works brilliantly. The box is big enough to fit in a slow-pet feeder. But in order the access the food, the anteater has to use its tongue through one of the holes in the lid. The lid is 40mm deep, with pipes that go through it. The idea is to really slow the food and encourage the anteater to use the fantastic adaptation that they have with their amazing tongue.
