#Amplifon has renewed its partnership with Teatro alla Scala in #Milan for the 2024-2025 season. 🎭   In the 75th year since its #foundation, Amplifon will continue to support the mid-week concert and ballet program of the “Invitation to #LaScala” (#InvitoAllaScala) project, which reserves the Theatre for #students and #seniors. Like in the previous season, the goal is to involve about 20,000 #people in the program’s initiatives. 🎼   “We are proud of this partnership that unites an Italian company like Amplifon, born in Milan exactly 75 years ago and present today in 26 countries on five continents, with one of #Milan’s and #Italy’s best-known cultural institutions in the world,” says the President of Amplifon, Susan Carol Holland.   The collaboration is part of our #ListenResponsibly communication project, which targets young people to raise awareness of responsible listening and the importance of #hearing prevention at all ages. 🎧

We have a new season of live audio described performances across 2024-2025 at the Royal Ballet and Opera. Dates to announced soon. As part of the developing Access project the team have been exploring the incorporation of Audio Description in promotional videos. Linked to this post is a YouTube video featuring a 23 second season launch trailer with Audio Description placed over the soundtrack. This is just an initial step, as we move to more integrated processes in collaboration with our Audio Describers and artists. As someone who trained as an Audio Describer, it’s such an insightful process to explore audio description inclusion across new functions and teams. It opens rich conversations about what is useful information, what is assumed and how biases can quickly surface but also be challenged. The provision of Close Protection can take you far and wide. It can also provide unique experiences that possibly, you may not have entertained for no other reason than not necessarily being your personal choice to do so. These include Operas and Ballets. I have watched Swan Lake by the Bolshoi Ballet no less than 8 times and I have to say, I enjoyed it every single time. The delivery of CP within such environments where the use of phones is simply not permitted (including the camera (!) can cause an issue in terms of communicating with team members outside and vice-versa not to mention the detriment of wearing an ear pierce in full view of unknowns in the immediate vicinity. Pre-arranged methods of comms such as RF transmitted and receives affording the ability to rapid click at much distance and through thick stone auditorium walls is one work-around that is effective and immediate.
