Curious how Sport Management programs can enhance students' self-perceptions and leadership skills?  Sport management programs provide internships for student development, but there is a need to emphasize experiential, personal, and professional growth to enhance higher-level self-perceptions. Investigating critical thinking development in these programs is essential for boosting self-perceptions and leadership qualities.  Our members, Kirsty Spence, Ph.D., P.C.C. and Shannon Kerwin, explored the effects of ego development and leadership efficacy of third-year sport management students during their 4-year academic program. The longitudinal study reveals that fluctuations in ego development may be a factor in how students see themselves as leaders in the field of sport management. From a program management perspective, this research shows us that faculty can benefit from incorporating vicarious experiences like challenging experiential education, self-reflection, feedback, and peer-paced development into curricula. "It felt very warm, very welcoming—quite different from France! *laughs* On my first day, Nicolas greeted me with a kiss on the cheek. It was surprising, but you get used to it." ✨ What do you like most about the company? "I really like that everyone in the team is around the same age, and the atmosphere is fantastic while remaining serious when it comes to work. Last year around this time, I was honored to be recognized as Intern of the Month at my previous company, thanks to my innovative thinking and implementation of creative solutions. I'm grateful to YES4Youth for providing me with the Learnership opportunity that helped me develop my skills and gain valuable experience. Fast forward to this year, I'm thrilled to be working at Executive motor world Company, where I quickly introduced a system that has significantly contributed to the company's progress - just a few weeks into my new role! Specifically, I implemented this system in April, and I'm delighted to report that it's working exceptionally well. What's more, the system has gained traction across various departments, including Sales, Agents, who now utilize on it to streamline their processes and enhance productivity. Its adoption company-wide is a testament to the power of innovative thinking and collaboration. I'm thankful to Signa Academy for allowing me to thrive and grow in my role, and to Ciocca Volkwagen for laying the foundation for my success. Interestingly, last week I was assigned a critical task that aligns with the company's development goals, marking a full circle from last year's achievements, which also took place in July. This experience has taught me the value of embracing growth, learning new skills, and implementing innovative ideas. My message is simple: don't hesitate to share your ideas and insights at work. This month marks my 6️⃣th year at University of Nottingham Sport 🔰 Reflecting on my time here, I’m grateful for the experiences, opportunities and challenges that have helped to shape me into the person I am. 6️⃣ lessons I’ve picked up along the way: 👥 People First, Job Second: Building genuine relationships with others and understanding their own unique traits, interests, values and motivations are the foundations of creating a safe and supportive environment. 🥅 Be a Safety Net: Everyone has their own challenges. Supporting others during moments of need by being available to listen, guide, and help them navigate through these uncertainties is one of the simplest, yet most powerful resources you can afford someone. ⬆️ Be a Springboard: Empower and inspire. Helping and motivating others to seek out opportunities for growth and mentorship and then seeing them succeed can be one of life’s most wholesome feelings. 🔄 Embrace Change: You can only control the controllables, so be at peace with the fact that some things will change, for better and for worse, but always keep an open-mind and be fearless in embracing innovation and adaptation. 📚 Lifelong Learning: Never a failure, always a lesson.
