Pride Month 🌈❤️ Did you know, LGBTQ+ young people are twice as likely to experience loneliness compared to their non-LGBTQ+ peers (Just Like Us, 2021)? Following various COVID lockdowns, the Return to Play initiative encouraged many return to sports, however it was said that LGBTQ+ young people, still faced various barriers in returning. Physical group activities are effective in combating loneliness by reducing isolation and fostering meaningful social interactions (ukactive, 2018). We have been working on various projects over the last couple of years, to try and break down barriers that LGBTQ+ young people face in volleyball. This effort aims to reduce stigma, combat social isolation, and increase inclusivity within Volleyball and beyond, encouraging sports communities to prioritize and address loneliness ❤️ #LGBTQ #PrideMonth #Inclusive #Volleyball #VEF #VolleyballEnglandFoundation

Sport and physical activity clubs, groups and organisations thrive when they engage a diverse range of individuals and ensure that everyone can be their authentic selves when participating or volunteering. During Pride Month we’re highlighting that more needs to be done to encourage lesbian, gay, bi, trans and queer (LGBTQ+) people to take part in sport and physical activity. There are some great resources on Buddle including tips on LGBTQ+ inclusivity, using inclusive language, and how to make your sports club or organisation inclusive to all: https://lnkd.in/ed94nzci

Happy Pride Month! 🌈 This month, let’s celebrate the love, acceptance, and resilience of the LGBTQ+ community. From the Stonewall Riots in 1969, which sparked the modern LGBTQ+ rights movement, to the legalization of same-sex marriage in many countries, the progress made over the decades is truly inspiring. We've seen significant strides in LGBTQ+ representation in media, politics, and various industries, highlighting the importance of visibility and acceptance. However, there is still much work to be done. Discrimination, violence, and unequal rights continue to affect many in the LGBTQ+ community. We must address issues like transgender rights, workplace discrimination, and healthcare access to ensure that everyone can live freely and authentically. Acceptance and tolerance are key to building a more inclusive world where everyone feels safe and valued. Let's keep pushing for equality and creating a brighter, more inclusive future for all. #PrideMonth #Inclusion #Diversity #Equality #LGBTQ+

🔔 Understanding and Remembering the Stonewall Riots 🌈 As we continue to champion diversity and inclusion in all aspects of life, it's crucial to remember pivotal moments in history that have shaped the fight for equality. Today, we reflect on the Stonewall Riots, a turning point in the LGBTQ+ rights movement. In June 1969, the Stonewall Inn in New York City became the epicenter of a powerful uprising. Sparked by a police raid, the patrons and the local LGBTQ+ community fought back against years of discrimination and oppression. This courageous stand marked the beginning of the modern LGBTQ+ rights movement, leading to the first Pride marches and the formation of numerous advocacy groups. As we reflect on this significant history, let’s recommit to fostering an environment where everyone, regardless of their sexual orientation or gender identity, can live and work without fear of discrimination. #StonewallRiots #Pride #LGBTQ #Diversity #Inclusion #ClinicalResearch

We need to be more representative. When reviewing the makeup of boards for the 2024 Board Diversity Index, we found it very difficult to gauge the participation of people with disabilities on boards because there is limited data. Meanwhile, LGBTQ+ board appointments are slow coming. In general, there has been little improvement in the stubbornly low number of board seats occupied by people from frequently under-represented groups. Companies must broaden their concepts of diversity and avoid concentrating on one aspect of it, otherwise they risk missing out on talented candidates from different groups. As August approaches, it's crucial to remember that Pride isn't just a month-long celebration; it's a commitment we need to uphold every day. As allies and advocates, our support for the LGBTQ+ community must be unwavering, 365 days a year. This is especially important for our friends in the United States, who are facing a critical election. The stakes are high, with former President Trump running on a platform that includes rolling back hard-won LGBTQ+ rights and threatening broader human rights. The next few months are pivotal in ensuring that these rights are not only preserved but strengthened. Now, more than ever, we need to stand up, speak out, and take action. Being an ally means educating ourselves, supporting LGBTQ+ organizations, and voting for leaders who champion equality and justice for all. It’s about creating inclusive environments where everyone can thrive, free from fear and discrimination. Let's keep the spirit of Pride alive every day. Our collective efforts can make a significant difference in the fight for equality and human rights. Together, we can ensure a future where love, dignity, and respect prevail. #inclusionmatters #lgbt #rbc #pride365 #ally #pride #speakup #humanrights #kamalaharris #gayrights #standtogether
