International Power to X workshop - 12 May 2024 - Ahoy Rotterdam Converting green electricity from renewable sources into storable energy carriers such as hydrogen, ammonia or dimethyl ether is a practical solution with several key advantages: these Power-to-X energy carriers guarantee energy security independent of the volatility of sustainable energy production; they can be transported over long distances; and they are suitable for defossilizing sectors that can currently be electrified only to a limited extent or not at all. The mobility sector (shipping and aviation), the industrial sector (steel and cement production) and the chemical industry will remain dependent on green energy sources and chemicals in the medium term. The content of the workshop will be jointly developed by the Fraunhofer Institute for Solar Energy Systems ISE and the Netherlands Organisation for Applied Scientific Research TNO with the support of the Port of Rotterdam. By attending the workshop, you will receive a discount of more than 30% on the ticket price for the World Hydrogen Summit & Exhibition. Registration https://lnkd.in/eRzavDDq #ptxworkshop

👌In the ARENHA project, the goal is to prove that ammonia possesses the essential qualities to serve as an efficient and cost-effective energy storage medium without CO2 emissions☑️☑️. This is only feasible if the production and decomposition of ammonia are closely linked to renewable energy generation. This is how ammonia production is handled in the ARENHA project, aiming for maximum sustainability in the process➡️ https://lnkd.in/dfB3aMgb And this is the formula for the ammonia decomposition process with which the ARENHA will demonstrate its potential as a sustainable hydrogen storage source👉 https://lnkd.in/d6TUXqTd 💻https://lnkd.in/dmQxB6tD #ARENHA #ammonia #greenammonia #useofammonia TECNALIA Research & Innovation Eindhoven University of Technology CNH2 - Centro Nacional del Hidrógeno DTU - Technical University of Denmark Fraunhofer IKTS STFC Proton Ventures Elcogen H2SITE Stellantis ENGIE Université d'Orléans

A breakthrough with hydrogen PV that's 1000 times more powerful than anticipated normal PV which developed by the University of Leuven in Belgium under the Solhyd project, this innovative technology produces hydrogen directly from sunlight and moisture in the air. The concept has attracted significant public and investor interest, positioning Solhyd as a potential game-changer in renewable energy. Unlike traditional PV or electrolyzers, the Solhyd hydrogen PV combines a regular PV with a special layer that generates hydrogen. It captures water vapor from the air, particularly in humid conditions, and uses this to produce hydrogen efficiently. This has the potential to be a market of significant size.

Meet Electrochaea, our next event sponsor. Electrochaea is an energy company with an innovative solution for storage of intermittent renewable energy and generation of synthetic methane. Electrochaea’s proprietary technology converts renewable electricity and carbon dioxide into BioCat Methane, a low-carbon intensity synthetic methane. For this process we use Electrochaea’s patented biocatalyst – methanogenic archaea. BioCat Methane is reliable, practical, and a safe replacement for natural gas. It can be stored in the existing gas grid infrastructure for use in days, weeks or months. This scalable solution allows for the efficient and unlimited storage of energy for future use, reduces greenhouse gas emissions, and accelerates decarbonization of the gas grid. Market Opportunity • Fulfilling the demand for clean fuels • Decarbonization of power generation, transportation, and industrial processes • Solution for large scale renewable energy storage using existing infrastructure Technology has been demonstrated in industrial-scale pilot plants in Denmark, Switzerland and USA Electrochaea team is looking forward to meeting you at the exhibition stand. Concurrently, #greenhydrogen, produced via water #electrolysis using these #RESs, has been recognized as a promising solution to #decarbonizing traditionally hard-to-abate #sectors. Furthermore, hydrogen #storage provides a long-duration #energy storage approach to managing the intermittency of RESs, which ensures a reliable and stable #electricity supply and supports electric grid operations with ancillary services like frequency and voltage regulation. Despite significant progress, the #hydrogeneconomy remains nascent, with ongoing developments and persistent #uncertainties in #economic, #technological, and #regulatory aspects. This #paper provides a comprehensive #review of the green hydrogen #valuechain, encompassing #production, #transportation #logistics, storage #methodologies, and end-use #applications, while identifying key research gaps. Particular emphasis is placed on the integration of green hydrogen into both grid-connected and islanded systems, with a focus on operational #strategies to enhance grid resilience and efficiency over both the long and short terms. The research project with power generation company Ambar Energiais is studying ways of lowering the cost of upgrading biogas into biomethane, and then using biomethane to produce low emission hydrogen. The main attraction for this method is that processing conventional natural gas or renewable natural gas (RNG) into hydrogen is already much less expensive than using electricity, according to Unicamp professor Hudson Zanin. The main challenge is the higher cost of biomethane compared with conventional gas. In the future, we will need green hydrogen to decarbonize hard-to-abate sectors, such as aviation and heavy industry. But for some industries and applications that can be directly electrified, using hydrogen will simply be too expensive. We must use green hydrogen wisely in the future. So, what are some of the best use cases? 💠 Producing e-fuels for hard-to-abate sectors 💠 Renewable energy storage and energy system flexibility 💠 Decarbonizing agriculture with green ammonia Visit us next week from May 13-15 at World Hydrogen Summit & Exhibition in Rotterdam to hear from our experts as they discuss our take on cost-efficient green hydrogen production. Meanwhile, download our Danfoss Impact paper on green hydrogen to discover more. https://bit.ly/4b3T5xG #WorldHydrogen2024 #GreenHydrogen #DanfossImpact #EnergyTransition #WhyEE #Decarbonization Sustainable Energy Council
