👏🏻 German start-up Vay became the first company to achieve "driverless" rides in both the US and Europe 🇪🇺 How refreshing it is to applaud a breakthrough in driverless technologies coming from an European actor. Well, turns out it’s the right week to do so as German start-up Vay announced it has successfully driven “driverless” in the streets of Las Vegas, being the sole company to achieve this in both Europe and the US. 🛜 To better understand what lies behind the "driverless" terminology, Vay is not actually providing “autonomous driving” but achieves driverless trips through “teledriving”, aka driving remotely the vehicle, with all the different but still complex challenges it may represent. 💡 Far from designing just an "human sized RC car", Vay is actually bridging the gap between the current state of technology and an autonomous future, while progressively introducing an AV tech stack.
