For August 2024, VE Commercial Vehicles (VEVC), the collaboration of Volvo Trucks and Eicher Trucks, sold 5,315 units. Overall sales dipped by 2.85% compared to last year, with Eicher Trucks facing a 3.42% decline. Domestic sales for Eicher dropped by 3.02%. Alexander Dennis, a prominent global bus manufacturer, has revealed the delivery of the first two of seven #Enviro500 double-decker buses to Spokane Transit Authority (STA) in #Washington state. Volvo Trucks North America (VTNA) is already seeing signs of a pre-buy, particularly among private fleets, as costly EPA27 emissions standards that will add about US$20,000 to the cost of a Class 8 #truck loom. But the truck market this year is slightly lagging expectations, said Magnus Koeck, vice-president of strategy, marketing and brand management with VTNA during a market update at the company’s Customer Center. The answer is simple: the wheelbase is important for trucks because it has a significant influence on the vehicle's driving behaviour. A longer wheelbase results in a smoother ride, as the wheels cover a greater distance before returning to the same position. This reduces vibrations and makes the vehicle more stable. In addition, excellent maneuverability is guaranteed with body lengths of 7.2 m. A shorter wheelbase, on the other hand, makes the vehicle more manoeuvrable, as the wheels can change direction more quickly. The choice of wheelbase depends on a variety of factors, such as the intended use of the truck, the permissible gross weight and the local conditions. For example, FUSO Canter and eCanters with a shorter wheelbase are usually chosen for use in cities to improve manoeuvrability.
