Instead of rushing wind over a static model, within the Catesby Tunnel, the air is static, but you can drive a car at up to 160 mph, providing a real-world look at how air flows over the car. Typical F1 downforce distribution! Downforce in Formula 1 is a aerodynamic force that pushes the car toward the track, increasing grip and stability, especially in corners. It is generated by the shape and design of various aerodynamic components on the car, such as the front and rear wings, sidepods, diffuser, and floor. The front wing is the first aerodynamic component that interacts with the oncoming air. It plays a role in managing the airflow around the car. It directs air to the various aerodynamic components downstream, such as the sidepods, floor, and rear wing, optimizing their performance and overall aerodynamic efficiency. A critical component of this aerodynamic package is the diffuser and underbody design, which accounts for nearly two-thirds of an F1 car's downforce. The rear wing sits at the back of the car, above the diffuser. It is designed to generate downforce by redirecting airflow upwards. The diffuser and rear wing work in coordination to optimize the overall downforce of the car. The diffuser helps to create a low-pressure area under the car, which enhances the effectiveness of the rear wing in generating downforce. This Swedish offering, produced from 1978 to 1993 was about as marmite as you could get back then ,you either loved it or hated it —no one could deny it was a statement of innovation and performance and it very strangely appealed to Architects of the time who in the end where specifically marketed by the Brand. The Saab 900 Turbo was renowned for its advanced engineering. Its turbocharged engine delivered huge performance while maintaining a decent amount fuel efficiency ,pretty rare at the time. The 900 Turbo's handling and ride comfort were often compared to much more expensive cars, thanks to Saab’s dedication to quality and innovation that would eventually cause issues with Saab's bottom line and ultimately the end of the company It had an unmistakable shape with wraparound windshield, the Saab 900 Turbo stood out from the crowd. Its aircraft-inspired design elements, such as the curved dashboard, were a nod to Saab’s roots in aviation even parking the car next to a fighter jet for TV and magazine commercials. Saab had always been a "safety first" kind of outfit, and the 900 Turbo was no exception. It featured advanced safety features for its time, including a robust passenger safety cage and impact-absorbing crumple zones.
