Reviews of wines scoring above 90 points employed more sentimental and romantic language, while those scoring lower were more descriptive and less emotional. This finding suggests that the sentimentality in reviews may influence wine perception and rating. #dataanalytics #wineindustry #sentimentality

Terroir y’all “…the study offers solid scientific proof that terroir exists. It’s something that many aficionados already know, that well-made wines exude a sense of place and that the surrounding environment deeply influences the end result. Maybe we can finally move on from stupid debates over whether terroir “matters” as well as the legions of terroir deniers who still populate the wine industry.

🍷 It’s National Wine Day on Saturday! 🍷 A day created in 2009 to learn more about wine and encourage responsible consumption. With that in mind, here’s a bit about what’s going on in the wine industry as we speak… Like most industries, AI technology has been adopted at a lot of wineries. AI's being used for loads of things like: 🔬 identifying consumer preference 🌳 helping understand the vineyards better 🍇 quickly mixing multiple grapes based on their compounds An example is being able to immediately notice when the vines get thirsty meaning the grape will be perfectly irrigated. They’re already seeing that these grapes are all the more delicious. A big question being raised and one you might bring up on Saturday - does AI destroy the artisanry that can make wine so special? Haven't got your wine yet? Here are some great ways to buy online: Laithwaites Wine, Majestic Wine, The Little Fine Wine Company or Virgin Wines! Cheers, Salud, Prost, Sante! 🥂 #nationalwineday #ecommerce #ai

At the end of the day, choosing a profession that aligns with your passions truly pays off. When you're passionate about what you do — well, only sky's the limit, right? Although my Master's program is not yet finished, I've been lucky to meet many inspiring wine industry professionals who embrace a passionate approach to their craft. I want to share some thoughts that came to my mind after a conversation with a winemaker at a recent wine tasting. ___________________________________ Winemakers are so much more than just producers. First and foremost, they are biologists, working intimately with plants and soils, which play the most critical role in shaping the final product. They are also geographers, who know how the microclimate of a single vineyard can shift every 500 meters and profoundly affect the wine's characteristics. Additionally, they are historians, who keep the rich heritage of vineyards and estates. The wines we enjoy today are deeply connected with stories and events from the past. Every grape variety has its own history, so does every wine estate. Winemakers are artists, too. There’s a unique connection between the world of wine and the world of art. Producing wine is itself an art — just in liquid form. Some wine labels are true artistic masterpieces, and many wine estates remind museums in their beauty. On top of all this, every winemaker must also be a communication and marketing specialist (or obviously have a great team). Making great wine is not enough, it’s essential to communicate its story. Every aroma, flavour, and aftertaste holds the potential to captivate wine lovers around the globe. And yet, a winemaker is also sort of a fortune teller. So much in winemaking is unpredictable and cannot be outlined in a step-by-step manual. Unlike recipes for dishes, there’s no definitive recipe for wine. Every winemaker is like a chef, crafting their own unique creation. What’s even more remarkable is that every year, they must reinvent their OWN wine, since it will be essentially different year to year because of the climate change… This is why winemaking is more than a profession — it’s a passion. Without a deep love for creating wine, how could a winemaker possibly combine all these aspects ? *photo taken during a visit of Château Smith Haut Lafitte, in the place where magic (wine aging) happens...
