Following my colleague Ari's input to the latest Pharma's Almanac Roundtable, here's how Astrea Bioseparations are making a difference: 📋 Prioritise changes that will have the most impact, for us they are Solvent and Power use. 1) Solvent Use: Last year, we recycled 85% of solvents compared to 60% in 2022. ✔Our PuraBead® base matrix is solvent-free, made from seaweed for a natural carbon offset. ✔Ethanol preservative is sustainably sourced through fermentation. ✔With a focus on R&D, we're minimizing waste through a Quality by Design (QBD) approach and introducing the AstreAdept® range, up to 1000x more productive and using fewer resources, allowing massive process intensification for our customers. 2) Power Efficiency: Our new facility, launching June 2024, features downflow booths for extended cleanroom space and enhanced safety for our team. These modular units automatically adjust flow/heat, reducing power consumption.
