A friend in the industry recently asked me this. “How do you build a culture in the workplace that encourages free thinking but also fosters a sense of accountability?” Whoa. That was a whopper. My first instinct was to say something like “It’s easy, respect each other but also be firm.” What does that even mean? So instead I said, “That’s not such a black and white answer I guess.” After thinking about it, and what BFC offers to not only our employees, but our clients, it became more and more clear. Our company is young, but the collective experience that our entire team combined brings to the table, surpasses many of the large corporations I’ve worked for. It all comes down to this…our core values. They were meticulously and carefully thought out at the beginning, and we build on them and live them day after day. The core values that a company stands on are the cornerstone of everything both past and future. It is how we serve our clients and our team. It is what makes us stand out in a sea of opportunity. Building a healthy and positive work environment isn’t always easy, and finding both candidates and CLIENTS who share our same values can be difficult at times. One thing is for sure, once you put them in place, be consistent across the board. Seek out people who are dedicated to fostering the same beliefs in their work lives and their businesses. HELP, ENGAGE, RESPECT, REPUTATION, and BUILD. We utter these words frequently and use them to build our processes and procedures to take our team members and our clients to their full potential.
