This is significant news for states embracing biofuels, notably E15. There's been a dance going on too long where it was time to cut the music. that is many states, notably across the Midwest, but also in the Northeast too, that have been using E15 for most of the season and have had to seek out waivers in the summer months. While the EPA/Biden administration has been granting the waivers, the process has impeded many c-store operators from investing in the equipment, blenders, etc because of the lack of certainty from year to year of being to sell biofuels year-round. This is an excellent first step and my hope is it will be extended nationwide on the grounds of being better for the environment and giving consumers more choices #cspdailynews #growthenergy

X-Press Feeders plans to use green methanol for ships in Europe in Q2 2024 Singapore-based container shipper X-Press Feeders plans to use green methanol bunker to fuel part of its fleet in Europe in the second quarter of 2024, a senior executive said on Tuesday. The move comes as the European Union will extend its Emissions Trading System (ETS) next year to cover carbon dioxide emissions for all ships of 5,000 gross tonnage and above entering EU ports. Shippers can buy carbon credits to offset emissions or burn lower-carbon fuels such as methanol and biofuels, although supply of these fuels is limited. Container giant AP Moller Maersk has also ramped up orders of methanol-powered ships over the past year. https://reut.rs/3Re25rM #methanol #sustainable #efuel #futurefuel #marine #maritime

National Oilseed Processors Association (NOPA) continues to join our partners from Clean Fuels Alliance America, American Soybean Association, U.S. Canola Association, among others to urge the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to meet the November 2024 deadline for the 2026 Renewable Fuel Standard Volumes. “The U.S. oilseed industry continues to meet food, feed and fuel demand and stands ready to meet higher RVOs for 2026 and beyond. March was the largest monthly crush ever reported, up 11 million bushels year over year. National Oilseed Processors Association members have made over $6 billion in investments to increase crush capacity by nearly 30 percent,” said Kailee Tkacz Buller, CAE, President and CEO of NOPA. “This growth trajectory will be put in doubt risking billions in investments without certainty, clarity, and aligning RVOs to actual industry capacity from the EPA.” Read more: https://lnkd.in/eWzGfxbx

Taiwanese global liner Evergreen has signed an agreement with X-Press Feeders, the world's largest independent common carrier, to place its containers on X-Press Feeders' new dual-fuel green methanol vessels. As reported by Splash 24/7, X-Press Feeders plans to run these vessels on green methanol and operate them within Europe. The two companies will work together to create a feeder network that will be the first in Europe to run on green methanol. These dual-fuel vessels will initially be based in the port of Rotterdam and cover ports in the Baltic Sea and Scandinavia. Eventually, the 14 dual-fuel vessels that X-Press Feeders has on order for delivery from 2024 Q2 to mid-2026 will be operate in Europe and the Mediterranean. The company has already signed a firm contract with Dutch fuel supplier OCI Global for the supply of ISCC-EU (International Sustainability and Carbon Certification) certified green methanol. The fuel, also known as bio-methanol, is a renewable energy source which is produced from the decomposition of organic matter such as waste and residues. The decision to add dual-fuel vessels running on green methanol is a key element of X-Press Feeders' commitment to reduce its greenhouse gas emissions (CO2e) by 20% by 2035, 50% by 2040 and to be net-zero by 2050.
