And let's be honest, it's pretty cool to talk about the Space Force! Dissecting the Quest 3 in Mixed Reality - Brief: A new mixed reality experience allows users to virtually pull apart a Quest 3 and other 3D models. - My Thoughts: This is a brilliant example of how mixed reality can revolutionize education. We're just wrapping up our May travel with a stop at the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) conference in Chicago, where we had the opportunity to share a powerful experience we created for the American Cancer Society, highlighting the impact Hope Lodge communities have on the lives of their guests and caregivers. Story aside, and jumping straight into the REM5 STUDIOS tech, here are the components that make this experience special. Many are "simple," but when strung together, they just feel right to the user. Kind of how Apple does it. I think this is one of the most underappreciated things in XR. ➡ Built-in headphones and halo head strap (many other VR experiences here with audio and comfort as an afterthought) ➡ No guardian on Meta Quest 3 (doesn't lose tracking when moved around at trade show) ➡ Auto calibration when each user puts on the headset ➡ Auto reset after every use ➡ Clear instructions in the headset ➡ Begin in mixed reality so the user has a comfortable transition ➡ 2D video reimagined with 3D graphics ➡ Hand tracking (I wouldn't wish handing a controller to a person at a trade show on my worst enemy) ➡ Light interaction with 3D artifacts from each story created by Luma AI ➡ 180 stereo video (8k) with MR back (immersive video is making a comeback! Insta360) ➡ Short, 5-8 min with good pacing ➡ Specific call to action for the event to hammer home the "why" Building immersive tech that works so smoothly it fades into the background has been the north star for quite some time, and we are finally getting there.
