Wrapping up an insightful two-week internship at Sitara Chemicals , where I delved into the intricacies of their chlor-alkali process. The experience was valuable as I gained hands-on exposure to the entire production chain, from primary brine purification to caustic storage as liquid in baffled tanks.
The journey began with understanding primary brine treatment, involving stages like saturation, clarification, and filtration, followed by heat exchange. I then explored the secondary brine purification process using resin towers. The highlight was witnessing the electrolysis process firsthand, observing the production of caustic soda, chlorine, and hydrogen. I also learned about the crucial dechlorination process using vacuum, steam, and carbon towers to ensure high-purity brine for the electrolysis stage.
This two weeks internship experience has allowed me to bridge theoretical knowledge with practical applications in chemical engineering. Excited to learn more about Sitara products in upcoming two weeks.
Grateful for this opportunity to apply classroom knowledge to real-world operations. Excited to see how this experience shapes my future in chemical engineering!
