A new paper in circulation (https://lnkd.in/eJ-q-hMq) that is more pessimistic about the use of LLMs to gauge human preferences than prior work such as: https://lnkd.in/eet5isZx Interestingly, what was found, is that LLMs are more impatient than humans in their choices. LLMs are not specifically interested in larger, delayed rewards, they opt for short-term benefits. LLMs can be prompted to explain their decision-making process which could be useful for a better understanding of human preferences. They can play an important role in deriving hypotheses which can be further tested on people 🧠 These findings can make us question, whether using LLMs is the way to go when working out the adoption intentions for new products. Not one but two of TechWolf's latest research projects got accepted for publication at ECMLPKDD and ACM RecSys! 📝 SkillMatch: Evaluating Self-supervised Learning of Skill Relatedness We release the SkillMatch benchmark, the first way to evaluate skill relatedness (or "adjacencies") at scale. The publication also covers different model training approaches with varying success. 📝 On the Biased Assessment of Expert Finding Systems We find that the evaluation of expert finding applications is succeptible to a large flaw. So large that it prohibits comparing different solutions in a meaninful way. We measure this effect, and describe two different resolutions.
