The last six years have been a leadership masterclass of sorts, at the Bob Wetherbee Wetherbee School for Lucky Communicators. Bob was named CEO the day after my second interview, making mine an easy decision to join ATI. If you know him, you know what I mean. I’ve learned so much from Bob, but one experience stands out. Early in my tenure, he invited me to an meeting with the executive team, about a strategic confidential topic. I listened and I wondered, but I was not prepared for what would happen at the end of the meeting. Bob went around the table and asked, “Do you have what you need to be successful?” As you can imagine, it was a rapid fire succession of yeses. As it got closer to my turn, I started to panic. Clearly, everyone else got it. But… I was lost. And I was there to develop the communications strategy to carry it forward. Did I mention I’m a terrible liar? Bob got to me and I took a deep breath and said the understatement of the day. “Actually, I have some questions.” Bob didn’t even hesitate when he responded, “No problem. Let’s find time to go over it again.” Perhaps not coincidentally, a few who followed me around the table also needed a bit more to be successful. We all continued the conversation. I’d like to believe that our tremendous implementation was because we all took the time — and had the confidence — to put in place what we needed. So what’s my takeaway? Find your voice. Give others a voice. Ask questions. Listen. Success doesn’t come by luck. But you can be lucky to work with the right people. As to the future, we go forward with certainty. Our entire team has been studying at their own Bob masterclasses…. and Kimberly Fields has been a star in the Bob School for Future CEOs. As you’ll see in this video, we’re building on our strong foundation.
As CEO, Bob Wetherbee built a culture of success and long-term growth at ATI. We thank Bob for all he has done, and look forward to building on his success for generations to come.

P2P Evangelist, passionate about bringing AP Automation and Digital Procurement to the masses, and building a sustainable supply chain.
This did make me chuckle, but also it is SO TRUE! Procurement is often undervalued and seen as "blockers", but this is simply not the case. They are there to; ✅ REDUCE RISK Imagine being a parent that uses childcare services in the local community and you discover a supplier being used to support the delivery of those services had staff that hadn't been DBS checked. This is just one example of the VAST amount of due diligence procurement teams undertake to reduce risk and ensure a supplier is compliant. Managing risk is a massive part of what procurement pros do, as the impact of not doing so could be HUGE. ✅ DRIVE BEST VALUE Now stop thinking this is about lowest price or doing things on the cheap, it isn't. Getting best value could be about ensuring the suppliers being engaged with can deliver what is required to the necessary standards and quality, and within the required timescales, or who better align to core values, such as social value, sustainability. Value does not mean cheap. ✅ BUILD RELATIONSHIPS Procurement = People. The whole supplier ecosystem is based on building and then maintaining relationships with suppliers, and we all know that isn't always easy. Procurement professionals deal with scores of suppliers and ensure the ongoing partnership continues to work successfully for the benefit of the business. And sometimes that means having difficult conversations that no one else wants to have. And the list could go on.................. To all the procurement pro's out there, I see you, I appreciate you, keep being the business operations Rockstar's that you are! ❤️ #procurement #value #appreciation #sourcing #suppliers #contracts

Neeraj Chopra's Silver Medal is a Disappointment? If you think so, you're completely wrong because I believe Neeraj's Silver Medal is worth more than a Gold Medal. I was watching the entire event yesterday, and it was clear that it wasn't his day. Five out of six attempts were fouls, and he was visibly disappointed. Somehow, luck just wasn't on his side. But in his only fair attempt out of six, he secured the Silver medal with a season's best record of 89.45 metres. I want to highlight a very special trait here, which is extremely important for everyone to understand. When you prepare with extreme dedication, even with the worst luck, you'll still end up better than 99% of the people. This is exactly what happened with Neeraj. It wasn't his day, but his preparation, training, and hard work were so good that he still managed to win a silver medal. I'm a firm believer that the luck factor isn't in your control. So, like Neeraj Chopra, focus on your hard work because it has the power to overcome bad luck as well. He's an inspiration to the youth today, and everyone must learn how perseverance can lead to success. Do you resonate with this thought? How are you feeling about Neeraj's win? #hardwork

We are generally terrible at celebrating our own wins. Then, we wonder why we burn out and struggle to understand whether we're achieving results. Set a milestone, achieve it, and celebrate it with a reward. Be proud of what you've accomplished, and put in the effort to showcase what you've done. Rinse, repeat, and do it again. I write about it here: https://lnkd.in/eEexqJnA

You may have a seen a post I shared a few weeks ago receiving an award and wondering why it took me a year to celebrate that win publicly (this photo is from that same event). Upon reflection, I've realized that my hesitance to celebrate is part of a larger pattern. I have never stopped to really celebrate my wins. I am guilty of constantly moving on to the next thing dismissing past achievements as if they were mere steps on an endless escalator. The win, once it's in the rearview mirror, somehow loses its sheen because it's "in the past." I cannot be the only one who is like this. Am I? Help me out here. But I am coming to understand that celebrating our achievements isn't about living in the past; it's about recognizing the journey and the growth that comes with each milestone. Many of us, myself included, are wired to look forward, to chase the horizon. There's always a new goal, a new challenge. And while that drive is valuable, it's equally important to pause, look back, and honour how far we've come. Our wins, big or small, are not just trophies to collect but reminders of our resilience, hard work, and the support we've had along the way. Even in writing this I know I will still find it challenging to do, so, I'm making a commitment to not only chase the future but to also honour the present and respect the past. I endeavour to celebrate my wins, to savour the moments of success, and to appreciate the journey because the future is never guaranteed. Will you join me in this practice if you have battled this same malady?
