𝐈 𝐬𝐨𝐥𝐝 𝐣𝐞𝐰𝐞𝐥𝐫𝐲 𝐛𝐲 𝐝𝐚𝐲 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐛𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐝 𝐛𝐲 𝐧𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭 𝐈𝐧 𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐨𝐰𝐧 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐝𝐬 (𝐥𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭𝐥𝐲 𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐭𝐞𝐝) - 𝐑𝐢𝐭𝐞𝐬𝐡 𝐏𝐚𝐫𝐚𝐤𝐡, 𝐂𝐨-𝐟𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐫, 𝐁𝐞𝐲𝐨𝐧𝐝 𝐋𝐨𝐚𝐟 I was reading about a lot of startups and that's when I saw Mr. Mithun who's the founder of Carat Lane at a wedding. So, I told him, I want to meet you. A few days later, I met him at Copper Chimney, and he asked me what have you been doing so far? We had a great conversation and meeting him in person was overwhelming. At the end of it, he said "Okay join on Monday." They were building the business. They had gone through the startup stage. Now they were a full-fledged business, and at that time they had 500 employees. When I joined them, they had 50 stores and by the time I left, they had 230. Just working directly under someone like that was like getting paid to do an MBA. Working in a company selling jewelry online - it was incredible. The way that they approach design, the way that they approach selling to customers, the way they positioned the brand and merging online and offline businesses. I got to be in different sections of the company as well because working directly under the CEO I got to see some bits of the production, some bits of the finance and how they were building new business models. Sending 2-3 grams of gold jewelry, or even less through posts and courier was a challenge initially but at that scale, logistic companies specifically working in this domain came up. They specialised in delivering jewelry and gold and silver and diamonds. A year and a half later, after we started Beyond Loaf at home during the lockdown, we were all working from home initially. One of the first people I sent the boxes of stuff to was my boss. And he told me "This is really good stuff man. What are you doing with it?" Over the next few months, from July 2020 up to November, he would keep asking me, okay what's happening? Then in December he told me "Stop coming to office tomorrow." At the time, I didn't tell him that apart from the time that I was in office, the mornings and evenings I was already doing that! #careers #careeradvice #jobs #baking #bread #ecommerce #onlineshopping ----------------------- 𝐌𝐲 𝐅𝐢𝐫𝐬𝐭 𝐉𝐨𝐛 𝐢𝐬 𝐚 𝐩𝐨𝐝𝐜𝐚𝐬𝐭 𝐞𝐱𝐩𝐥𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐝𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐞 𝐜𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐞𝐫 𝐣𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐧𝐞𝐲𝐬. 50 𝐩𝐥𝐮𝐬 𝐜𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐞𝐫 𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐬 𝐭𝐨 𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐨𝐬𝐞 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 *𝐈𝐧𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞 * 𝐄𝐧𝐠𝐚𝐠𝐢𝐧𝐠 * 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥

SEAMS ANNUAL NETWORKING CONFERENCE SEPT 11-13, 2024 Battle House Renessaince Hotel & Spa Mobile, Ala. MEET THE SPEAKER: Pete Roberts Founder & CEO, ORIGIN® A gifted storyteller, Roberts will take you on a journey into the heart of what once united America, calling to mend what's been torn apart by globalization and predatory capitalism. In his presentation, “The Resistance,” he will shed light on the untold stories of a fabric that once shaped our nation, exploring the rise, fall, and renaissance of manufacturing in America. His unyielding journey of resilience, redemption and the quest to stitch together a hopeful future offers a new look at an old idea, demonstrating an unwavering belief that the American Dream is still very much alive. Roberts has taken an audacious gamble on the American Dream amidst the backdrop of the trade wars that gutted his New England hometown. After the 2008 recession, with nothing left to lose, Roberts remortgaged his small home to build a timber frame factory in the woods of Maine, embarking on a crusade against the corporate greed that has overshadowed American industrial resilience. In his quest to rediscover what’s been lost, Roberts built a formidable brand, Origin, that manufactures apparel and footwear from dirt to shirt in their own factories. A natural-born entrepreneur, in just over a decade and with no outside capital, Roberts grew his enterprise to over $200 million in annual revenue, setting up manufacturing across multiple states. Most recently, in North Carolina, he resurrected a 170,000 sq ft denim manufacturing plant with a promise to manufacture one million pairs of jeans a year using 100% American denim. Hey there, So, let's talk about the not-so-glamorous side of building a brand—the hiccups. And boy, do I have a story for you. Picture this: you're all hyped up, ready to conquer the world with your amazing new range, and then bam! You hit a roadblock. Yep, that's what happened with Sundé. Now, I'm all about transparency, so let me spill the tea. We had this special fabric. I'm talking next-level, oh-my-gosh-I've-never-felt-anything-like-this-before kind of fabric. It was soft, it was luxurious, and it was exactly what I envisioned for Sundé. But here's the kicker—the dying lead times were a nightmare. I'm talking weeks turned into months, and months turned into...well, you get the picture. It felt like we were stuck in a never-ending loop of waiting, and let me tell you, patience has never been my strong suit. But hey, here's the thing about hiccups—they're just temporary. So, instead of throwing in the towel of this particular fabric (trust me, I was tempted), I rolled up my sleeves and got to work. I reached out to every supplier, every contact, every person I could think of, and together, we found a solution. It wasn't easy, and it definitely wasn't glamorous. But you know what? It was worth it. Because now, when I look at the Sundé range, I see more than just fabric. I see determination, resilience, and a whole lot of hustle. So, to anyone out there facing their own hiccups, just know this: you've got this. Sure, it might feel like the universe is throwing everything at you (trust me, I've been there), but you're stronger than you think. So keep pushing, keep hustling, and most importantly, keep believing in yourself. Here's to the hiccups—the bumps in the road that make the journey all the more rewarding. Catch you on the resilient side, 😅 #sunde #brand #startup #designer #fashionbrand #loungewear #underwear #suppliers #brandconsultant #freelancer #fashionfreelancer #fashion

Everybody needs a place to put their love. - Karina Dresses tagline, circa 2012 In 2012 I made my first investment in a #femalefounder who also happened to be 50+. At the time I had no idea how unusual these founder traits were. I just knew the founder was passionate, authentic, experienced, perfectly aligned with both the product and the market. Most importantly there was a strong emotional bond between the product and the customers who bought it. 🤷🏾♂️- it just seemed like the smart thing to do. Not a lot of my investor buddies agreed at the time- probably not so surprising. Fast forward 10+ years and the value of my investment is ~20x & the amount of free cash flow distributed to equity holders is substantial & still increasing YOY. My takeaways: ✅Invest in authenticity, passion and intimacy (customer)- no matter what the founder profile looks like relative to others. ✅Follow your gut. ✅Not every deal is venture scale worthy. But there’s a potential investor for every deal. ✅Be the best version of you, not a lame version of someone else. Works for both investors & founders. :) Congratulations to Karina and the team at Karina Dresses! Proud as punch to be on this journey with you all🚀

Everyone in the fashion world is speculating about what happens if the Tapestry-Capri falls apart. Many are focused on the Versace outcome—it’s so valuable, it’s luxury, they should sell it! But Versace is still small, with just over a billion dollars in sales in 2023. In reality, the F.T.C. doesn’t care about Versace, or the shoe businesses—Tapestry’s Stuart Weitzman, Capri’s Jimmy Choo—which are also relatively tiny. Instead, the agency is fixated on the consolidated power of Coach and Michael Kors, two leaders in the mid-priced North America handbag market and, most importantly, its off-price handbag market. (I’ve heard some estimates suggesting the two brands comprise upward of 70 percent of the latter.) That market position could allow Tapestry to raise prices by, say, $5 per bag, which could potentially increase their profits by hundreds of millions of dollars and arguably screw real Americans. A $5 bump may not sound like much, but it’s something. Read about this and more in the latest Line Sheet Puck: https://lnkd.in/gJ-krXRp

The Future of Entertainment Sustainability & Historically Accurate Experience Parks | Helping Legends CRE8 Eternity | Destination Resort & Entertainment Complex | Host of Haunted Texas Theme Park Podcast WE'RE VIRAL!
The Rise and Fall of House of Dereon House of Dereon, once a beacon in the fashion world, faced challenges that led to its quiet disappearance. Despite its initial success, the brand struggled to maintain its foothold in the rapidly changing fashion industry. (Reference: “House of Dereon- Beyoncé’s first, forgotten clothing line” and “Why Beyoncé House of Dereon Brand Failed and how she bounced back with her new line”). A Mutual Revival The partnership between Haunted Texas and House of Dereon is more than a business venture; it’s a mutual revival. Haunted Texas offers a platform for House of Dereon to reconnect with its roots and audience, while the fashion brand brings a fresh, artistic flair to the park’s offerings. This collaboration could lead to an increase in foot traffic and higher sales, as seen in similar ventures. The potential partnership between Haunted Texas and House of Dereon is more than a business endeavor. It’s a journey into the heart of Texas, reviving history through fashion and celebrating the legacy that Beyoncé and Tina Knowles created. It’s a dream that, once realized, could redefine the way we look at theme parks and fashion in Texas. What do you say Bey? 💅🏼 🤝 🙏🏽. #Beyonce #ROCNation (Reference: “Six Flags Reports Third Quarter 2023 Performance — Six Flags” and “Disney q4-fy23-earnings”). https://lnkd.in/g_mVn-zw
