Why does webMethods Integration Server make such a great business application platform? In addition to being a great tool for integration logic, Integration Server also works really well for other types of business applications. Yes, that it is not what it is being marketed/positioned for. But thanks to its pretty open architecture I have always found it very easy to develop other types of applications on it. So if you have Integration Server and are currently only using it for integration-centric scenarios, I highly recommend to evaluate the options for a broader use. Especially things that are data-centric are obvious candidates. And you can also host web applications built with Angular, React, etc. Together with proper CI/CD and deployment automation you can implement functionality really fast. Try-Catch Exception Strategy: Use the Try scope to encapsulate the flow where an error might occur, and Catch scope to handle the exception. Within the Catch scope, you can define actions like logging the error, sending an alert, or executing a specific error-handling logic. Error Handling in Connectors: Many MuleSoft connectors come with built-in error handling mechanisms. For example, you can configure retry policies, define error response mappings, or set up error handlers directly within the connector configuration. Global Error Handling: Define a global exception strategy that applies to the entire application. This strategy catches any unhandled exceptions that occur within the application and executes the defined error-handling logic. On Error Propagate Scope: Use the On Error Propagate scope to catch specific errors and handle them at different levels of the application. This allows for more granular error handling based on the type of error or where it occurs in the flow. Custom Error Handling: Implement custom error handling logic using DataWeave transformations or scripting components like Groovy or JavaScript. This gives you more flexibility in how you handle specific errors or conditions within your integration flows. The API lifecycle starts at planning and ends in its retirement. Developers take care of the API in 3 phases during its lifetime. Phase II is critical to make your API enterprise ready. It’s the phase where API is built and tested. You want to systematically code thousands of APIs to be able to connect to the backend and each other. MuleSoft has all the tools to help you achieve this. Here’s how it works 👉🏼 👉🏼 Development: In the development phase, you can download API Specification (RAML) from the Design Center to create the base mule application. Your code should account for API’s use, performance, error, and other metrics. Much of this has already been decided in Phase I and you need to implement them. You also have to look into security components like OAuth 2.0 authorization, throttling and rate limiting. Architectural features you get access to in Anypoint Studio include ✅ Prebuilt connectors, and templates, as well as connectors from Anypoint Exchange ✅ Automate mule flow creation by scaffolding API directly from Anypoint Design Center ✅ Data transformation with a drag-and-drop interface and DataWeave Scripting. ✅ Mule runtime engine for on-premises and CloudHub deployment. 👉🏼 Testing: Once development is complete, you can run and validate the mule application in the local mule runtime in Anypoint Studio. It’s got a debug mode, so errors are highlighted. Alongside automated testing facilities, it also has MUNIT framework. This is like the JUNIT that helps you verify the internal logic.
