Today marks the beginning of Anti-Slavery Week. This week we are going to be sharing educational material from Hope for Justice & Slave Free Alliance, as well as some posts concerning our own internal work to stamp out modern slavery. It is estimated that there are 49.6 million people trapped in slavery worldwide. This figure has increased by nearly 10 million in 5 years. Any number is too high. Anti-Slavery Week gives organisations, charities, and ordinary people the opportunity to raise awareness of modern slavery and human trafficking. Make sure to use this week to raise awareness and take action against modern slavery. We stand against slavery.

⭐ Can you spare just 30p a month to support your community ⭐ I'm lucky to work with Drawing Board Productions Community Interest Company who produce not for profit positive news publications for communities across South Manchester and Stockport. Each month they provide a free platform for charities, community groups and individuals to advertise their work. Drawing Board are driven by their mission to support the community but to do this they too need help to ensure that they can keep producing their newspapers, raise community spirit through their fun annual activities and events and provide those living in isolation with a window to their community. The Challenge:  Can you spare just 30p each month to help us extend our reach and support more local residents and community organisations through essential news and information? How can you take part: Monthly Treasure Hunt: Check your pockets, bags, sofa sides, and car seats for those spare 1ps, 2ps, 5ps, 10ps, and 20ps.    Pop 30p into a Jar: Collect your findings each month and contribute to your designated jar. This is Jacqui, the Support Services Coordinator at Girikon's Client Organisation: Council of Single Mothers and Their Children (CSMC). Jacqui and her team provide single mothers with the specialist support and information that CSMC is known for. Now Jacqui is speaking out and asking for your help. CSMC's Support Line Workers say they have never had as much unmet demand as now, and the need has never been more acute. The need for support and information has always been high, but demand has skyrocketed due to the cost-of-living crisis. Single mothers who call CSMC's Support Line need help now, but the sheer volume of calls means that many are having to leave messages and wait for a callback.
