#China #PLA #SpaceDream #AerospaceForce LM-2D launched 6 Jilin-1 satellites into space today. 宽幅02B01至06星 kuanfu02B satellites can see width of 150 km with 0.5 m resolution Kuanfu 02 to 06 is China's new generation coverage satellite by ChangGuang. They are the first ultra-sideband and high resolution remote sensing satellites Now, 114 satellites are in orbit, which will allow 37 to 39 revisit to any location in the world every day. Ability to fully cover world 6 times a year. From this 2022 article. “吉林一号”卫星星座新目标:具备24小时覆盖全球能力 It said they were planning to get 140 satellites in the air by end of last year for revisit every 10 minutes. Looks like they have not achieved this yet. The goal once they have 300 in the air is for full global coverage once a day.

This beautiful and eerie video was recently taken from the International Space Station and posted on X by astronaut Don Pettit. (ref X link --> https://lnkd.in/g3cdU8dC) It's a brilliant (pun intended) illustration of SpaceX's optical signature management design of the Starlink v2-mini satellites which uses a mirrored film on the nadir deck. This results in "flares" or specular reflections of the sun which are redirected away from the earth (but are obviously very bright from other geometries). Reference page 2 of SpaceX's "Brightness Mitigation Best Practices for Satellite Operators" published a few years ago --> https://lnkd.in/gQqqxCEV (starlink.com URL). These flares have been responsible for claims of UFO sightings (or rather, UAP - Unidentified Anomalous Phenomena). #SpaceDomainAwareness #SpaceSituationalAwareness #UAP

“We have learned through the decades how to mitigate the impact... Payloads may be turned off or put on standby. Operators can turn satellites to better protect sensitive instruments. With a few days warning, operators also can raise satellite orbits to lessen the impact of drag.” - Daniel Bock Thank you to SpaceNews and Debra Werner for including our insights in the latest article.✍ 🚀 For more on how we are enabling the future of space mobility, visit us at www.morpheus.space 📰 Article: https://lnkd.in/gytf5ya3 #SolarStorm #Satellite #SolarActivity #Space #SpaceTech #Innovation #SpaceMobility #SatelliteMobility #MissionDesign #InSpaceMobility #Electricpropulsion #MobilityInSpace #MorpheusSpace #SpaceNews

The UAE's first radar imaging satellite was launched into low Earth orbit on Friday, marking a milestone for Bayanat and Yahsat. The Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) satellite was carried by a SpaceX rocket from California's Vandenberg Space Force Base. The satellite, developed in collaboration with European company ICEYE, can capture high-resolution images day and night, regardless of weather conditions. It uses a sensing system that illuminates the Earth's surface and measures the reflected signal to create detailed images. The launch is part of a constellation of devices to be launched over the next three years, expanding the companies' capabilities as multi-orbit satellite operators. The merger of Bayanat and Yahsat will establish Space42, a $4.1 billion AI-powered space technology business, potentially creating one of the most valuable publicly listed space companies. #SpaceTechnology #UAE #SatelliteLaunch

I've been learning #spacetech with The Knowledge Society (TKS) and it has been amazing so far! Currently, I'm learning about #spacedebris. It is any object orbiting around the Earth that isn't used and it can be anything from small pieces of rockets to obsolete satellites. It's incredible to think that out of the 40,000 objects have been monitored in Earth's orbit since 1957, less than 10% are active satellites. One idea I have to protect our space in the future is to implement a system that would launch the satellite when its mission is complete into the atmosphere where it would burn and be destroyed without major consequences. image: from https://lnkd.in/etVnxddQ #Spacetech #Spacedebris #SpaceSustainability

The UAE's most advanced Earth-imaging satellite, MBZ-SAT, will launch on January 14, 2025, from Vandenberg Air Force Base in California. Developed by Emirati engineers, MBZ-SAT is set to revolutionize Earth observation with its advanced imaging capabilities. The launch, delayed from October 2024 due to technical issues, will now occur via SpaceX’s rideshare program, which is more cost-effective. MBZ-SAT will be accompanied by the student-built CubeSat, HCT-SAT 1. This launch reflects the UAE's dedication to advancing its space sector and training the next generation of space explorers. The livestream starts at 9:30 PM UAE time. #MBZSAT #UAEspace #SpaceX #EarthImaging #SpaceExploration #UAEinnovation #HCTSAT #SpaceTech #UAEpride

The Chinese space sector is transforming rapidly and this graphic does a great job of highlighting a few key developments: - Launch frequency still trails behind the US, China's pace is steadily increasing. - In 2023, Earth Observation satellites dominated China's launch capacity. However, 2024 has seen a notable shift with an uptick in communications satellites. - At the end of 2023, China had just over 600 satellites in Low Earth Orbit (LEO) but the Qianfan project (G60 Starlink) is set to launch an equivalent number in 2024 and 2025 alone, with plans to expand to 14k satellites. This expansion highlights China's growing influence in global space operations and its commitment to becoming a major player in satellite communications. #space #technology #innovation BryceTech
