"Harvard at the Crossroads: The Case for a Dynamic, Diverse Leader" by W J O'Reilly, Write-in Candidate for Overseer As a write-in candidate for Harvard Overseer, I've been closely following the recent developments regarding our university's leadership. With the resignation of former President Claudine Gay, the search for a new leader has become a pivotal moment for the future of Harvard. While some may view the potential hire of interim President Alan Garber as a "safe" choice, I believe it's crucial for us to consider the broader pool of talented and diverse candidates available. Yes, stability is important, but so is dynamism, innovation, and the ability to inspire meaningful change. It's time for Harvard to embrace a leader who can challenge the status quo and bring fresh perspectives to our institution. By looking beyond the "safe" choice, we can ensure that we select the most qualified and dynamic individual to lead us into the future. As always, I'm eager to engage with the Harvard community and hear your thoughts on this crucial topic. Let's work together to ensure the best possible future for our university. Please consider me as your write-in candidate for the upcoming Harvard Board of Overseers election this spring. WJO'R https://lnkd.in/epwp6Ehx

Very happy to contribute to this initiative named GROWTH (Generating Resources and Opportunities for Women in Technology and Health) by the AHA ATVB Women Leadership Committee! Congrats on everyone's efforts & thank you to everyone who provided support! Briefly, the paper at the ATVB An American Heart Association Journal discusses how "we must continue our efforts to address equity issues & embrace inclusive leadership, recognizing that a diverse workforce contributes to innovation and societal progress not only for women but for the entire community." How? Many interesting points have been discussed, and the summary of some future directions includes: - Increase coaching & leadership training programs; - recognize unique challenges at various career stages; - implement data-driven strategic plans; - address cultural biases and; - encourage coll. across institutions. MBTI Master Practitioner / Type Practitioner Training and Coaching / Empowering Practitioners to Create Workshops that Ignite the Dynamic Power of Jungian Psychological Type / Type Development Coaching
Great article by my colleague Stan Tilton which highlights physician Types via the MBTI. The data show that a majority of physicians have TJ preferences (also known as Extraverted Thinking), which are common among Executive Leaders as well. Having facilitated MBTI workshops for Executive Leaders in medicine for many years, I can attest to this finding; the modal Type in most of my leadership workshops was INTJ. I particularly like the tips at the end of the article, which are relevant for any Leader who wants to improve their skills. Becoming aware of conscious processes and what is less conscious and fodder for development is so important in leadership roles.
I am pleased to report that the article “Myers-Briggs Personality Preferences May Enhance Physicians Leadership Success in Non-clinical Jobs” continues to be read and mentioned internationally in more Academic Research Papers. The article was co-authored by Richard Aranda, MD and myself, Stan Tilton, MBA. It is important to note, this article was first published in May 2013, yet it remains quite relevant today as physicians make efforts to understand leadership and personality types. Within this context, it has been mentioned in greater than 100 academic papers at many universities across the world.

This episode will be part celebration, part reflection, and part insight. We will be celebrating what we learned from 1 year of hosting a live radio show and podcast, and also sharing specific data on a group coaching program that follows the framework that our seasons have been focusing on this past year. We will review our proprietary research-based 5-stage Strategic Leadership Pathway model and the results from a program evaluation study of this model conducted at Duke University School of Medicine and presented at the Pediatric Academic Societies Meeting. We'll explore questions such as: 1. What might be the impetus for starting a group coaching program within academic healthcare - what was the need identified and why group coaching? 2. What can you expect to gain from such a program and what are the implications? 3. What impact could this kind of program potentially serve in highly complex academic medicine and healthcare environments in supporting leaders in those environments. Mara Becker, MD, MSCE, is a physician-scientist and Vice Dean for Faculty of Duke University School of Medicine's Office of Faculty. She oversees the Office for Faculty and provides leadership on all faculty matters including advancement, development, mentoring and professionalism. Jessica Schonberg, M.Ed. is their Director of Educational Programs for Duke University School of Medicine's Office of Faculty.
