Driven $3M+ in talent for Creative Agencies. | Founder of Media Meerkat | Talent Acquisition + Coaching
I went to an event where Steven Bartlett was talking and he revealed his Number 1 ingredient for his business success... Steven was the headline guest at Adcon 2024. Adcon was a 3 day event held at London's Wembley Hilton Hotel. It was truly a brilliant event and I'd highly recommend it for next year - the guest line up was excellent. Of course they left the last day for Steven to come out. I get that - they wanted people to stay right till the end - and they did. He was every bit as articulate, charming, knowledgable and down to earth as I hoped he would be. The very first question that John Penberthy asked Steven was what was his secret to success in his business - do you know what he replied? Hiring great people. Steven then went on to talk about the importance of recruiting the very best people for your business and to not reply on traditional methods to engage, attract and retain the very best staff. I sat there like I had finally been seen - all of the wisdom he could share (and he naturally said more than this) his number 1 piece of advice was to tell people to invest in hiring the right talent - and I don't just mean invest in a recruitment agency, but to really commit to hiring the best people. Sounds obvious right? But how many of you - Managing Directors, CEO's, Founders, HR, Talent Acquisition, aka those responsible for hiring talent, really and wholeheartedly say they put 100% effort into this? Do you know how many people say to me ' Oh we don't need to use recruitment support because we're inundated with applications' - Okay that maybe the case and you might be really lucky to find your unicorn, but sticking a job post up and hoping for the best is NOT how you would usually expect to find the very best person. The very best person is usually much harder to find and they can often take a lot of nurturing to encourage them to look elsewhere. Hiring Managers please take note - not of me, but of Steven Bartlett, one of the most successful and influential people of our time...the key to success of any business is it's people. When was the last time you invested in that? Really invested in it? Feel free to DM for more details. #recruitment #jobs #careers #business

Dear new Talent Managers, new Artists and new Brand Managers, You may not appreciate it now, but in our industry there will always be a very high premium and monetary value attached to a character trait labeled as “Not Taking Advantage of Others”. If you are known for always taking advantage of others, you will find that good quality jobs are difficult to come by, people will negotiate the hell out of you and cost-to-serve increases exponentially. And you will be dropped eventually, no matter how big or popular you are. Unfortunately, the industry is filled with such people. If you have a solid reputation of not taking advantage of others, you will find many people giving you referrals, deals are easier to get done and your total long-term costs will be much lower. And most importantly, you will constantly attract the right deals. So, be the minority. Don’t take advantage of others. Be the good person. And everyone will prosper.

In light of Corus Entertainment Inc.’s recent announcement to cut 25% of its full-time workforce, it's crucial for the recruiting landscape to prepare for significant shifts. With the company's revenue decreasing by 16%, resulting in a steep loss of $769 million, the challenging advertising environment has led Corus to make tough decisions about legacy assets and workforce reductions. For recruiters, this signals an influx of talented individuals entering the job market. Companies looking to scale or infuse fresh perspectives into their teams should see this as an opportunity to tap into a skilled talent pool previously engaged in television and radio sectors. Industry trends show that adaptability and digital transformation are more important than ever. The current situation with Corus underscores the need for recruiting professionals to stay agile, leveraging digital platforms to connect with potential candidates swiftly. Let's discuss: How can companies effectively absorb and integrate this talent? What innovative strategies can recruiters employ to match these professionals with new opportunities? #Recruitment #TalentAcquisition #IndustryTrends #DigitalTransformation #Hiring Feel free to share your thoughts and insights below.

Great to talk to Dan Maisey at Peak 72 for this week's Talent Talks podcast and dive into my experiences of recruitment and what has changed over recent years. Finding talent is such a crucial role as it really is true that the people make a business. There's such a difference between having the skills to do a job, and being the right person to do that job. Once you reach interview stage we have a good idea you have the right experience, so I really want to see a personality that is going to be the right fit for the team. #recruitment #sportsmarketing #people #culture #digitalagency
