I raced dirt bikes for probably 12 years. They're still ride something all the time and that's kind of what got me into designing and building tracks. My goal for the audience or all the fans here in the stands is always to have a good race for us, having the rhythm lanes work and having the obstacles to where there's certain ways you can go faster than others and it's it's challenging in those aspects that really separates the best riders. There is a lot of pressure on all the riders right now and the OEM's you know, they they want to be, they want to have the best fight for the fans that really follow this sport. I mean it's it's coming down to the last few events, which is good. When you design A track, you just have to think on where the bikes are entering the stadium, where the tunnels are and the venue, where the teams are going to be parked at. So that kind of indicates where you place the finish line, because when the checkered flag comes out, the bikes have to be able to exit the track safely while the rest of the race is still going on. What makes Denver's track a little bit unique is that the stadium is narrow. This is, and it's it's like an egg shape. So this one's actually one of the more challenging ones because it's such a small, small track and we want to have pretty long lap times. If you have a short lap time, you get tons of laps in a 20 minute race and the track breaks down pretty drastically. Denver definitely has a unique a unique dirt. It's a little hard to work with, but Wagner Ranch definitely gives us brand new equipment almost every single year, which is. Awesome, Definitely makes our life a lot easier. Wagner Ranch has been great. I mean anytime we have an issue with any, there's always a tech here on site. The equipment is usually pretty much brand new, which is a plus for us. Working with Wagner Rents has been great because when we got here, all the equipment we asked for was here on site ready to go, fueled up, we got big loaders. Our our 972 actually has a 7.25 yard bucket on it, which is, which is pretty big. We normally don't get something like that. So that's always new and exciting. For us. When we first bring the turn into the building, we push the floor out with dozers, and then once we have the floor pushed out, we pile up the dirt in the middle pot, push it all up with the loaders. Once we have a decent pile of dirt, we'll place the dirt where it needs to go. The dozer will compact and do the shaping, and then the skid steer follows the dozer 9 times out of 10 when you get Caterpillar, and we always prefer it. We love that the new skid steers, and it's what we're used to. We get them every week. Why switch it up? Denver is definitely one of the top ones. It's a really cool city and we love it.

It's been a couple of months since my last 'Slider Article' that I published on DIRTRACKR, but last week I got to speak with one of the hottest drivers in sprint car racing once again - Gio Scelzi.
Gio is by far one of my favourite interviews. He is a straight shooter and has a personality that is missing in most sports across the globe. It's always a pleasure to chat with him, catch up, and ask him a few questions on the current state of dirt track racing and the sport of sprint car racing as a whole.
Gio is a part of a new age of drivers that are taking a front seat and becoming one the top drivers to beat in the sport of sprint car racing. If it wasn't for drivers as good as him and with the straight-up, no-BS attitude, the sport would be suffering a lot more.
Most professional athletes in 2024/25 are boring to talk to, let alone, listen to them in interviews. In general, most of them are numbskulls, with little ability to have a regular conversation with someone outside of "their world" and no respect for those involved in "their world" that want to help them reach another level of notoriety.
Gio will be a future World of Outlaws champion and is on his way to becoming one of the sport's best. The fact he speaks his mind and isn't afraid of whether or not people like him for it is a throwback to a different age that we rarely see today with modern sportsmen.
On a side note...
A big shoutout goes to Justin Fiedler and what he has created with DIRTRACKR. No one in the industry comes close to the amount of time, energy, and resources he pours into dirt track racing as a whole.
