Your contribution will help modernize the definition and understanding of the term “mining” while providing valuable insights into satisfaction within the mining sector. The survey is expected to take 15 to 20 minutes to complete. We are seeking input from individuals with diverse backgrounds, including current or former employees of mining or exploration companies, mining consulting firms, service providers, supplier firms, as well as students and retirees who have experience in the industry. Very happy to announce that my paper, "Challenges in the Battery Raw Material Supply Chain: Achieving Decarbonisation from a Mineral Extraction Perspective", was finally published with Springer Nature in the Mining, Metallurgy & Exploration Journal. This paper expands off of our previous work dedicated to quantifying the increase in critical mineral demand caused by vehicle electrification and intermittent energy storage. It focuses on the mineral extraction constraints which may impact battery supply chains and provides feasible solutions to mitigate these limitations. A Master thesis project LTU - Mining and Rock Engineering has started. Vikum Sri Mendis has started his MSc thesis project “Investigation of the sheared boreholes in the Kiruna mine”, under the supervision of Carlota Rodriguez San Miguel and Nikos Petropoulos. The data collection is on-going at the LKAB Kiruna mine, where borehole shearing presents a significant challenge affecting mine production. The MSc project investigates the behaviour of the sheared boreholes as the blasting front approaches the sheared zone. #mining #boreholes #blasting
