Imagine an enjoyable and engaging orientation session aimed at teaching our incoming freshman the ropes and assisting them in avoiding the typical rookie errors. 🎉 This is how it operates: Buddy System: Assign each new student to an experienced peer mentor who can provide advice, insider knowledge, and insights into life at LSU. Consider it like having an own campus guide! Campus Scavenger Hunt: How about we make exploring the campus a game? Teams of freshmen can race around, finding key locations such as the dining halls, library, and student services while answering mysteries. Workshops on Life Skills: We'll hold workshops covering everything from time management techniques to the fundamentals of budgeting to provide freshmen the tools they need to succeed in college and beyond. Let's equip first-year students with the resources they need to get off to a great start at LSU! Who's on board? #LSULife #GeauxTigers #FreshmanFootsteps @ScholarshipOwl Louisiana State University

I have long been a proponent of giving high school students the opportunity to gain industry-recognized experience before graduation. This new program from North Carolina SEED (Southeastern Education and Economic Development) in partnership with North Carolina Business Committee for Education and Smithfield Foods seems to have all the necessary elements: Dual Enrollment credits, paid skills building, stipends for necessary travel and equipment purchases, field trips to additional locations for exposure and an industry-recognized skills certification upon completion of the program. I am curious: do you think more businesses should partner with high schools/school districts to create programs like this? https://lnkd.in/e3z4V-BM
