In light of Saskatoon’s proposed arena and convention centre district, let’s shift the focus to core services for vulnerable populations and struggling small businesses. As growth unfolds, we must prioritize sustainability and consider the impact on essential services like housing, infrastructure, and addressing homelessness. The ambitious economic projections should be approached cautiously, given Saskatoon’s $52-million shortfall. Rather than solely pursuing grandiose projects, we should reassess priorities to avoid burdening the city with unmet expectations and financial deficits, drawing lessons from past initiatives in other municipalities. A lack of transparency and due diligence surrounding the arena project raises concerns. To address these issues, city planners and decision-makers need to redirect investments toward critical needs, ensuring a transparent, evidence-based rationale for prioritizing this project over others in Saskatoon. Let’s advocate for a balanced and sustainable approach that considers the well-being of all residents and small businesses.

Big news! Indy's Mile Square is sooooo close to getting its very own Economic Enhancement District (EED). This is a huge deal because Indy is the last major downtown area in the U.S. without an EED, so we're about due, right?? (Similar to when it comes to investing in the creative economy, some see the EED as a COST rather than an INVESTMENT, but that's a very short-sighted way of thinking about it.) For those who might not know, an EED is a special funding mechanism (Some will say, TAX) focused on tackling unique challenges and seizing opportunities in our central business district. The big picture is that it's all about stepping up our game to make our downtown better than ever. Raise your hand if you don't want that. 😂 Shoutout to Taylor Schaffer and the Downtown Indy, Inc. team for all of their hard work on this project and on making our downtown look and feel great. Exciting times ahead! #IndyMileSquare #EED #DowntownDevelopment #Indianapolis
A cared-for, vibrant #DowntownIndy is key to growing our businesses, attracting and retaining talent, and encouraging further investment in our capital city and the entire #IndyRegion, and the newly created Mile Square Economic Enhancement District will position #Indianapolis for a new wave of economic investment and success. Working together to prioritize and invest in our downtown will be a game-changer for our city, region, and state, and we're eager to get started—but we need your support. Show your #CareforMileSquare by adding your name to our letter to members of the Indiana General Assembly: https://lnkd.in/dUZF2Wbp

Communities That Play Together Grow Together: My View of Greenville, South Carolina 🌟 My wife’s family lives in South Carolina, and as I have been to many cities around the world, I am always captivated by Greenville and how it relates to where I live. With a population of only about 70,000 people, I feel that the heart of Greenville’s success story is its unwavering commitment to providing residents and visitors alike with an abundance of opportunities for leisure, recreation, and cultural enrichment. Greenville offers something for everyone, regardless of age or background, from its extensive network of parks and green spaces to its bustling downtown district filled with shops, restaurants, and entertainment venues. It seems that no matter what day of the week it is or what time of the year, Greenville is always busy with thousands of people walking, eating and simply enjoying everything the city has to offer. Public spaces like Falls Park and the Swamp Rabbit Trail foster social connection, echoing Waterloo Region's landscape synergy. The city's arts scene thrives, with galleries, theatres, and events like Artisphere drawing thousands yearly, boosting both culture and commerce. But it's Greenville's collaborative spirit that truly shines. Residents, businesses, and government unite to shape the city's future, driving initiatives like the Greenville Forward Vision Plan. In my opinion, Greenville, South Carolina, stands as a shining example of the transformative power of community engagement, recreation, and cultural enrichment. By prioritizing public spaces, fostering a vibrant arts scene, and promoting collaboration among stakeholders, Greenville has created a dynamic and inclusive community where residents thrive, businesses flourish, and visitors are welcomed with open arms. As other cities seek to emulate Greenville’s success, they would do well to heed the timeless wisdom that communities that play together truly do grow together. 🌟 #CommunityEngagement #Growth #GreenvilleSC #CommunityDevelopment #Recreation #CulturalEnrichment #PublicSpaces #ArtsScene #Collaboration #InclusiveCommunity #CommunityBuilding #CityPlanning #UrbanDevelopment #DestinationCity
