For graduates looking for a job right out of high school where they can rise through the ranks quickly, the top employers are Chipotle Mexican Grill, Lowe's Companies, Inc.'s and Walgreens, according to the American Opportunity Index. The new analysis aims to highlight opportunities for those not pursuing higher education — about 4 in 10 of this year's graduates. Retailers dominate the list, and banks and insurance firms are also prominent. While entry-level roles at these companies provide growth potential, they often come with lower pay and high turnover, Axios notes. Analysts looked at career trajectories for almost 5 million workers, using publicly available work histories rather than data from employers. Other high-ranking companies include Foot Locker, PNC, Gap, The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company, Best Buy, Chewy and Starbucks.

Big news for PNC! The American Opportunity Index just released its latest report, “Best Places for High School Graduates to Start a Career,” and PNC made the top-5 out of the 50 companies recognized! The analysis ranked companies by how well they hired entry level workers (first jobs), promoted them internally (advancement within), and prepared them for better opportunities if they leave (advancement beyond). This is huge and validates the significant work we've undertaken to make PNC a great place to start (and advance) your career!!

Graduations. 🎓 For some they bring great memories. For some, they bring hard things back to remembrance. Today, we got to celebrate new hires graduating from training and moving to production. 🎓 Will they choose to retire from Cox? Do they see this as their career? While they might all be in the same role right now, in less than 5 years, there is a high chance that they will all be in different roles. How they (and we) make decisions and choose how to show up to work each day will determine our next steps and how we can grow in our learning and experience. As leaders, we must ask ourselves, how can we help prepare them for another role? How can we help guide them? How do we help them strengthen their skillsets and deepen their knowledge?
