Congratulations to our Q1 Hiver of the Quarter, Amanda Porcaro! Amanda is the model example of what being a Hiver is all about. She takes her work seriously leading the account services team, yet makes time for having fun while inviting the rest of the company to join in as head of our internal culture committee, the Buzz Squad. Having been with BlueHive for 16 years she is an incredible asset to our organization for these reason and more. We are thrilled to get to work along side Amanda each day. Q: How long have you worked at BlueHive? A: I have been here since February 2008. Q: What is your position / title? A: Director, Account Services – head of the Buzz Squad (certainly not an official title though!) Q: Do you have a nickname? A: Personally or professionally?! Back in the day a former hiver dubbed me De-manda as a running joke! I like to think I’m not all that demanding but maybe I’m naïve! Q: How did you get started working in the industry? A: My now cousin-in-law let me know about an opening at the Hive. At the time I was working at a wedding facility as an event manager but she knew I was looking for something more…if you can manage bride-zillas, you can manage our events/marketing clients! the rest is history. Q: Favorite thing to do when not at work? A: I love to spend time with my dog, Gus, my friends and family and enjoy good eats/drinks! Q: Favorite sports team(s)? A: Do the Savannah Bananas count?! Q: If you could have one superpower, what would it be? A: Probably time travel. I’m very Type-A so having insight on what is to come would be very handy…I’m a planner to the core! Q: Flash forward ten years: Where are you and what are you doing? A: I would hope to still be an asset to the Hive; providing mentorship, education and motivation to the next generation of hivers….and spending a fair amount of time at a beach. Q: What was your favorite childhood toy/game? A: I was a big fan of riding big wheels with my brothers and doing tricks on my trampoline.

Why? St. Patrick’s Day is an interesting holiday. It’s the one time of year we find ourselves all in one color (and not supporting a sporting event), eating the same foods, and singing the same songs. For one day, we decide to stretch ourselves and adopt a culture. I’ve been reflecting on this idea. It prompts a deeper consideration of the values and experiences that divide us and connect us. And it’s a reflection of our ability to stretch ourselves to reach a common goal. What are your thoughts on this? I would love to hear them. #StPatricksDay #TeamBuilding #HRInsights

Happy #marchmadness to everyone who celebrates 🏀 ! Several years ago, I decided to bring the idea of a March Madness tournament into my work life. It was a really fun way to interact with colleagues so it turned into an annual event. Each year, for several weeks, my colleagues and I only talked about one thing at the coffee machine, in passing in the hallway, and at the start and end of meetings. "What place is your bracket in?", “I wish I didn’t pick Duke!”, and "Can you believe North Carolina blew it?!" were exchanges between sports lovers and sports agnostics alike. I had built a mini-community of people who were looking to connect and have fun together, and it was really rewarding. Annually as March Madness approached, people would start to get excited and ask me whether I was running another tournament. March Madness has brought colleagues into my sphere from departments I never interacted with. People of all backgrounds and experiences at my organization began connecting with me unlike they had before. My work network doubled every time this year as new hires would join the fun and I would get to know them and their stories a little deeper. I recommend you find your version of March Madness. Maybe for you it's a different sporting event that you love. Maybe it's a holiday that is unique to your culture that you want to share. Maybe it's an event you create yourself that involves potluck food, music, trivia, or another game. Leading an experience for your colleagues demonstrates competency, passion, organizational skills, relationship building, and your value of strong culture. By creating the culture you want to have at your organization, you'll be noticed by leadership and peers alike, and you will continue to further differentiate yourself and your talents. What’s your version of March Madness?! Share in the comments ⬇️

The Memorial Day BBQ is Calling My Name 🍔🌭 I can practically smell the burgers on the grill! The Memorial Day BBQ is calling my name, but if you’re like many of the people I talk with, there are a few things you might need to tackle before being ready to relax: 1. Filling a 𝗰𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗿𝗼𝗹𝗲: It's time to find the right person to step into this crucial position. 2. Delivering some 𝘁𝗼𝘂𝗴𝗵 𝗳𝗲𝗲𝗱𝗯𝗮𝗰𝗸: A challenging conversation is on the horizon, but it's essential to help my team grow. 3. Reflecting, 𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗴𝗶𝘇𝗶𝗻𝗴, and replanning the rest of the quarter: Taking a step back to refine my game plan so we can crush our goals. Does any of this resonate with you? If so, let's get to work before the summer gets here. 🌟 Passionate about transforming businesses with innovative, user-friendly software solutions at Cube Purple Software. Let's work together to shape a brighter digital future! Proud supporter of ClockedIn and FireArrest
So here is why I feel it is important to celebrate my first anniversary at Cube Purple (FireArrest ClockedIn) I am not the most technical person in the world and I think a lot of my friends including my son were shocked when I went from hospitality to software (even me) I talked a lot about prosecco in my interview and cake maybe that swayed them. However, what I have learnt in the past year about Fire Safety and the world of Time and Attendance is incredible (I think I even surprised my team) and I am kind of proud of that. Talking of a team is one of the most important things to me as I have learnt over many years if you don’t have a good team it won't work. They accept me for who I am acknowledge my strengths (talking a lot and selling) Help me with my weaknesses Let's face it we all have them. For example, I sat down with one of my colleagues we were putting a meeting together he said to press ctrl and shift I got a bit flustered but we just laughed and are still laughing about it, well actually they just love taking the bleep of me. I have made some amazing connections and even a few friends along the way. The CEO Mark Shaw and Amanda Shaw are great they let me just get on with it and yes make mistakes as well but with full support. Listen to me if I have to get something off my chest and yes sometimes especially last year it wasn’t all work. As a leader that is a great quality. I like coming to work and that you learn as you get a wee bit older is a massive deal. So cheers to another year at Cube Purple Ltd and I look forward to getting to know more amazing people within the community. #workplace #teamwork #learning #challenges #cake

It was too hard to share the post since it was reshared via a few people, so I apologize for tagging only the originator and the sharer who called it to my attention. Originated with Rob Dance from ROCK and highlighted by Alexandra Lappin! First - this is a great list. Most of the experts or content creators are not wizards or geniuses or people who know secrets. You should read them and interact with the content. You should also look for the 1 or 2 things on a list like this that you can do better on. #12 is my favorite. It follows my personal belief that a THANK YOU NOTE for any occasion should not be "Thanks for coming to my party. Thank you for the gift. It was great to see you - love Jeff Isbell". Any thank you note should include something specific to that person; an inside joke; a tiny story from the day; a mention of something in the future; but something that shows that you made that person a focus of attention for several minutes and you sincerely appreciate them. Why is a Thank You Note different? (very fast example) Dear Saul Hudson, It was great meeting with you today to talk about the Chief Rock Officer role. I appreciated how you described the specific culture of the leadership and company. I was thinking more about the question of what I'm most proud of having achieved since college and in the moment I felt like the original forming of the team in 1986 was it but I was thinking I was more proud of making some of those partnerships last the test of time since after 20 years we were able to bring the team back together, create new products and get back in touch with many of our original clients. We ran out of time in person but I was hoping you could answer a couple of more questions for me via email perhaps or happy to connect via phone. 1. What do you think the hardest part of the role will be for anyone coming into it? 2. What do you believe is the single largest threat to the company's success? 3. Do you think there is a market for the product in APAC? I thought we had a great discussion and think that I am a great fit for the role. If there are any follow-up questions for me please reach out. Good luck to your Lakers this weekend! Team Appreciation: A time to celebrate your team as a whole! 🎉Celebrate their hustle, dedication, perseverance, and most of all celebrate their DIVERSITY! 🎊Two weeks ago we had Team Appreciation Week! 🥳 I asked the team if they wanted one theme or multi theme week. They chose Multi theme. 🦸🏽♀️Monday we Celebrated our Dynamic Team during Dynamic Duo Day! 🦸🏽♀️We dressed up in Dynamic teams and had some lunch together. 🥪 💎Tuesday we celebrated our Vineyard Place Treasures through treasure hunts. The team dressed as pirates and they completely treasure hunts by guessing what Team Member was being described in a worksheet made for them. I complied some team members favorite items and the team had to talk to each other to figure out who was being described. 🏴☠️ 🤝Wednesday we celebrated Unity through Diversity! 🌏 We wore clothing that represents our cultural backyards and shared some treats with each other. 🍰 👩🏽🎤 Thursday we celebrated our Rockstars! We dressed as Rockstars and ate some lunch! 👩🏽🎤 🏆 Friday we had our first ever MET GALA awards. Weeks prior team members voted on each other for select categories. Some categories were Best smile, Best signer, Motivator, etc. We handed out certificates and Awards. 🎫🎟️We also handed out Raffle tickets throughout the week for those who participated in the week's activities. Our families donated many prizes for our team which were given out during this time. Grand Prize was DISNEYLAND TICKETS! 🥳 Take a look at our video recap! *I Do Not Own the rights to this music* #employeeappreciation #teamappreciation #teamengagement #humanresources #peopleoperations #leadership #latinaleadership #anthemmemorycare
