[No spoilers, and I won’t take someone else’s spotlight or post] One of the best things about being an Engineer at Walmart is working with some very talented people who are driven and have lots of opportunities. One of the difficult things about being an Engineer at Walmart is working with some very talented people who are driven and have lots of opportunities and when that drive means they take advantage of moving to other opportunities so they can continue to use their talents. The only thing that is constant is change, and we’ve had some changes in people and processes and I’m sure there’s more changes at some point. This a profession and it is great professional development and advancement, but it’s also a people business which means home team is always family. #walmart #engineers #changeisconstant #hometeam #family

Principal Talent Acquisition Business Partner at Walmart Global Tech - #DiversityEquityInclustion - Building GenAI Teams across the US.
Today marks my 4-year journey with Walmart Global Tech, and I am feeling truly blessed and deeply grateful. Being a part of the Talent Acquisitions team here has been an enriching experience, as I've had the opportunity to support diverse business groups such as Health & Wellness Technologies, Data Ventures, Retail Technologies, Search and Personalization, Technical Program Management, Information Security, and International Ecommerce, among others. What sets Walmart apart is its steadfast commitment to doing what's right. The company's core values - Service to the customer, Respect for the individual, Strive for excellence, and Act with integrity - are not just words on a page. They are lived by every day, in every action we take. Working here isn't just about being part of a company. It's about being part of a culture that truly cares. A culture that you don't just see, but feel at every moment. I want to extend my heartfelt thanks to each and every member of my Talent Acquisition team, our diligent operational staff, and most importantly, our business partners. Your selfless cooperation and seamless teamwork make even the most complex processes seem effortless. Here's to many more years at Walmart Global Tech, a place where work isn't just work - it's a commitment to doing what's right and making a difference. #WorkAnniversary #Gratitude #LifeAtWalmartGlobalTech

This is my Walmart story, marking my 2.5-year milestone. I joined Walmart as a part-time associate in 2017, shortly after immigrating to Canada. Hailing from a small town with limited job opportunities, getting a position at Walmart was a stroke of luck amidst uncertainty. My journey has been one of profound growth and transformation. Over the years, amidst life's ups and downs, in 2021, I found myself drawn back to Walmart, where I embarked on a career journey filled with diverse experiences and invaluable lessons. From the front end to Omni, fresh to general merchandise, fashion to core grocery, I've traversed nearly every department, gaining a comprehensive understanding of Walmart's retail environment. Beyond the confines of a typical store, I've embraced unique challenges such as driving the forklift to move freights or empty containers—a task that both fascinated and enriched my skill set. Grateful for the opportunity presented to me the day I applied to Walmart, I've encountered many great people and learned from them (both knowledge and mindset), fostering a sense of belonging within the Walmart community. As I continue along this path, I remain committed to learning and growing, both personally and professionally. Each day brings new opportunities for development, and I eagerly embrace them with gratitude and determination. Last March, I was humbly nominated for “Shining Star of the Month”—just a small achievement that I've gained. But I consider this experience one of the greatest milestones in my career journey because it signifies that my dedication is heard and seen. As someone once said, “JOBs can be TAUGHT. SKILLS can be TAUGHT. EXPERIENCE comes from OPPORTUNITY. Start giving people an OPPORTUNITY to learn the SKILLS to gain EXPERIENCE to do the JOB." 11 years at Walmart ☕️ You would think that after all these years at the same company, I’d have it figured out, and that things would become somewhat constant. Well, as they say, change is the only constant and year 11 was no exception. In year 11 I started a new role, focused on a different industry, am managing a team for the first time, and best of all, became a dad of 2. I continue to find myself with more questions than answers, but as before, wouldn’t have it any other way. 11 reflections from Year 11: 1. Your prime earnings years are also your prime “Daddy can you play with me” years. Choose wisely. 2. Work is designed to be infinite. Create boundaries or you’ll become consumed. *Shoutout to Ethan Evans for this one. 3. The risk of work becoming your identity is real. On the flip side, work also has the opportunity to positively shape your identity. 4. Life is unfair. Sometimes to our advantage, and sometimes to our disadvantage. What matters is how we steward the opportunities we do have, and how can we create opportunities for others. 5. Becoming a leader of a team is more like a career change than a promotion. “What got you here won’t get you there”. You can’t do what you’ve done, just better. Your responsibilities are different altogether. 6. Most people are more interested in what you can do for them than what they can do for you. Cherish the ones that are the opposite. Be like them. 7. Compensation and title aren’t a reflection of a person’s worth. They’re imperfect indicators of economic or societal value. Treat people based on their inherent, human value. 8. It is easier to dismiss than to understand. Keep this in mind when encountering differing views. 9. Being Effective > Being Right. It doesn’t really matter if you’re right about something if you don’t do anything about it. 10. So much of business can be categorized as efforts of value creation and efforts of value capture. When in doubt, focus on value creation. What you can capture is limited by what you create, whereas what you can create is unbounded. 11. Seek to understand the “why” & “how” instead of the “what”. The what/outputs may be plainly visible, but it doesn’t give any indication as to whether the “how” is replicable or risk-free or if the “why” is values or strategy-aligned. A lot of other thoughts bouncing around but these are some of the ones that I’ve been chewing on. What resonated? What additions or edits would you make?

People are often surprised when they learn I have worked for Walmart close to 30 years and now Fortune is helping me share the WHY! The People-first and family culture was (and still is!) a magnet for me and the way I wanted to live and work! Has it been hard at times? YES! Have there been tears of frustration at times? SURE! Did I sometimes work so many hours that a 40hr / week job would have felt like part-time work? NO DOUBT! But........ Has it also been fun, fulfilling and everything I hoped it would be? YES! Have there been tears of joy when I see people grow and accomplish things that they never dreamed possible? ABSOLUTELY! Was it better raising a family and putting myself, my wife and both my kids through college with Walmart in my corner the whole time? NO DOUBT! I could list many more reasons but I will let you take a look for yourself now! Check out this blog post from Great Place To Work® and other key facts below. https://lnkd.in/g8Nsrts9 Thank you to ALL the associates around the world that make this company so great, Striving for Excellence every day! The retail job market is evolving, with some companies cutting jobs while others are in high demand. Walmart is leading the way by increasing compensation for their superstore managers, offering larger bonuses and stock awards, potentially totaling over $400,000 annually for top performers. Store managers oversee sizable teams and revenue streams, often advancing without college degrees. With the added responsibility of managing e-commerce orders, the role has become more complex. Walmart is addressing concerns about turnover by recruiting and training college graduates for managerial roles and increasing pay and bonus incentives. The new compensation structure includes automatic stock grants, with supercenter managers receiving higher grants compared to those at smaller-format stores.

Small, but meaningful detail of a special #EmployeeExperience... thank you Walmart! 🙏 Today, my personal inbox 📥 was hit by the email below... yep, came from Walmart with the subject: "It's time to celebrate, Ramon! 🎉 "... reminding me about what would have been my 18th anniversary with the company (I'm good with numbers so 3/29 was a special day I would have remembered though 🗓 ). I want to think that this was on purpose, as part of Walmart's Associate Experience Strategy... and not just a glitch or a spam. Perhaps for other former associates, this reminder may have come across as inappropriate or insensitive (like if you were laid off as part of a big reorg, or you left the company due to a poor manager/leadership experience); it was not the case for me, and for that, I really appreciate the note. When companies are purpose-driven ❤️ and realize the importance of the holistic #HumanExperience, that is, working maniacally to improve both, customers and employee experiences, you realize that in the case of employees, you have to understand the total journey, from recruiting to post-job, and create experiences for them not only when they are employees, but before or even after they left the organization. Today I may walk into my Walmart neighborhood market feeling a little bit special, and appreciated. HumanX Insights #HX #EX #CX
