Walmart built a SAAS company…     Yep! If you didn't know, Walmart created Walmart Commerce Technologies, selling innovative solutions it created for itself to other retailers. Well, that's how it started…   In the summer of 2021, Walmart announced Walmart Commerce Technologies, making Walmart's technologies and capabilities in omni-channel fulfillment available to Adobe Commerce (formerly Magento) customers.    Then, a year later, Walmart brought Store Assist to market. An out-of-the-box BOPIS solution for businesses with physical stores, a desire to improve the online experience, but with limited resources to do it. In fiscal year 2024, Walmart reported double digit growth in store fulfilled pickup and delivery orders. If it works for the largest retailer…then, yeah, can probably work for you!   As I said, that's how it started…selling innovative solutions to other retailers. Now, their newest SAAS solution is aimed at the $2 trillion+ global trucking industry (nearly $1 trillion in North America). It's AI-powered Route Optimization logistics tool is used to plan routes, backhauls, and trailer utilization. It may be a new market for Walmart Commerce Technologies, but it enters the market with plenty of credibility as the 2nd largest private fleet with over 11k tractors and over 80k trailers. Walmart states they avoided 94 million pounds of CO2 by eliminating 33 million unnecessary miles. If it works for them…then, yeah, can probably work for you! RIGHT?!?   The truth is there is A LOT of nuance when it comes to integrating and implementing technologies with your business, let alone the likely first step of simply evaluating your data to make sure you have the foundation to work from. Rarely is something out-of-the-box "plug and play" and I'm confident these innovations are far from it. But I do think it's incredibly interesting and will be fun to follow.   What do you think?
