[NEWS] Glasgow BTR scheme secures planning consent Redevco and Swiss Finance & Property UK have received planning approval for a 391-unit Build-to-Rent (BTR) scheme in Glasgow’s West End. Located at Minerva Way, Finnieston, the development will span 1.6 hectares across two buildings, surrounded by extensive landscaping. Designed as one of Scotland’s most sustainable residential projects, the scheme will include air source heat pumps, EV charging points, and no fossil fuel use. Redevco is targeting net-zero carbon in operation for the project. Chris Fleetwood, deputy COO real estate at Redevco, said: “Redevco has a long history in Glasgow, and we’re thrilled to reach this milestone. This project contributes to enriching communities and making urban areas more sustainable and liveable.” Philipp Braunwalder, CEO of Swiss Finance & Property UK, added: “We’re proud to address Glasgow’s housing shortage while achieving high standards in design and sustainability. 🆕 The Future Homes Hub has launched the #WholeLifeCarbon (WLC) Conventions and a free tool to support homebuilders measure the carbon impact of their new homes. Members can download the WLC Conventions and access the Future Homes Carbon Assessment Tool here: https://lnkd.in/e54rda2A Developed with input from #homebuilders, #manufacturers and whole life carbon experts, and in line with wider industry initiatives such as the RICS professional statement, the WLC Conventions will ultimately help all homebuilders consistently measure, share and report whole life carbon assessments. Having a shared approach and developing an industry-wide baseline is a significant step towards developing a clear roadmap to reduce the whole life carbon of new homes. The Future Homes Carbon Assessment Tool covers all building elements but is simple to use and zero cost, encouraging more homebuilders to start their WLC journey. The project was nominated for the Outstanding Carbon Reduction Initiative Award and you can find out more about it in this video 💚 Leader of Winchester City Council (WCC) Cllr Martin Tod said: "WCC is committed to carbon reduction but at the same time providing high quality homes for all.
