Social connections are not a nice-to-have. They're profoundly necessary. Clinical data shows that social well-being is more important for our health than diet, exercise, and even smoking cessation. It impacts multiple areas of our lives and is essential to good health. We're all familiar with employee wellness benefits and perks that address physical health — even mental health. There are many good reasons for these programs. Healthy employees lead to stronger workplace cultures where we're all more engaged and productive. Ultimately, investing in wellness leads to lower healthcare costs. But in all these programs, the factors of social well-being are still woefully underestimated and overlooked. That needs to change. And at Sunny, we're doing just that. I am so excited about the possibilities for building healthier and more connected workplaces. There's a lot of work to do, but this work has never felt more urgent or important. And if you're curious to learn more about social well-being (at work, or just in your own life), give Sunny and I a follow! We have much more to share, and we're grateful to have you on this journey with us. #socialconnection #companyculture #lonelinessepidemic

Did you know that health is more than a personal concern; it is a collective responsibility? Today, as we observe Health Day, let's take a moment to reflect on the importance of wellness in our lives and communities. Health is the foundation upon which we build our dreams, careers, and relationships. It's the invisible fuel that powers our daily efforts. Yet, in the hustle of our professional lives, we often sideline our well-being. Today is a gentle reminder to prioritise our health and encourage others to do the same. But it's not just about individual action. Creating a healthier world requires collaboration and shared initiatives. Every step counts, whether through your workplace wellness programs, community health drives, or support for public health policies. Let's also remember that mental health is as crucial as physical health. Encouraging open conversations and support systems in our networks can make a big difference in people's lives. As we celebrate this day, I encourage you to take a step towards better health. Maybe it's a walk during your lunch break, a healthy meal, or a mental health check-in with a friend or colleague. Every action matters. What will your next step be? Let me know in the comments. #worldhealthday #health #awareness

"Social wellness doesn’t necessarily mean having large groups of people that you know or “go out” with, although, having a solid and congruent community in your life can certainly influence a strong social wellness. You may have 2 friends that you feel like you can be your true self around. This might include being honest about your experiences or being able to be truly playful with. Or, you may have many friends that you enjoy sharing interests or activities with! One of the most exciting factors related to social wellness is that you can typically engage in social wellness by also engaging in all of the other areas of wellness. Exploring the other areas of wellness may even help you find some new activities to do with friends. Some examples of social wellness may include going to dinner or the movies, going on walks with friends, looking for sharks’ teeth at the beach, cooking together, making friendly relationships at work, and so much more." -Etta Gantt #EthredgeCounselingGroup #LandrieEthredge #EttaGantt #CharlesMWilliamsJr #MentalHealthforWomen #Charleston #CharlestonSC #CharlestonSouthCarolina #JamesIsland #TherapyForWomen #CounselingForWomen #Self-Care #Wellness

Focusing on wellbeing as part of the policy-making process is becoming more popular among governments, including Australia and Aotearoa New Zealand, who want to move beyond economic prosperity as their sole objective. A new Research Brief from ANZSOG’s #TheBridge summarises research that looks at how we can do wellbeing policy better by developing a deeper understanding of what wellbeing represents and how it is measured. It outlines a four-step approach to doing wellbeing well – running through understanding your purpose, developing indicators, evaluation strategy, and reflection and innovation. #Wellbeing may be a nebulous concept, but we can do it in a systematic and intentional manner which should ultimately lead to a happier, healthier, and more prosperous community.
