Violence is a difficult topic, our minds instinctively want to run away from it. However, we must acknowledge that women’s rights are facing setbacks. Speak up when you see harassment or abuse happening. Don't stay silent. 2. Challenge victim-blaming attitudes - no one deserves to be abused. 3. Learn about the signs of abuse so you can recognize it and offer support. 4. Volunteer at local shelters or organizations. 5. Advocate for laws and policies that protect and empower women. Today marks the beginning of the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence, a global campaign to raise awareness and take action to end violence against women and girls. This year, the theme being: #NoExcuse: Unite to End Violence Against Women this Winter. We call for collective accountability and action to prevent abuse and its devastating consequences. Femicide is the intentional killing of women because they are women, and continues to claim lives worldwide, leaving families and communities shattered. As we light candles and hold a vigil to remember those who have been killed by violence and abuse, let us also renew our commitment to building a society where safety, dignity, and respect are rights, not privileges.
