At Creador, sustainability is not just a goal—it’s a core value driving every aspect of our operations. We are proud to share our comprehensive plan for managing construction waste, including pallets, cardboard, and soft plastics, through innovative recycling and reuse strategies. 𝙎𝙩𝙖𝙜𝙚 𝟭: Make Our Packaging Recyclable As the first joinery company across Victoria to recycle our packaging, we turn pallets into garden mulch, cardboard into new cardboard and toilet paper, and soft plastic into reusable plastic. 𝙎𝙩𝙖𝙜𝙚 𝟮: Find Second Use for Protection Materials We are exploring ways to incorporate recycled joinery protection into our processes. By finding second uses for these materials, we can further reduce waste and promote circular economy principles within our industry. 𝙎𝙩𝙖𝙜𝙚 𝟯: Conversion to Recycled Second-Use Boards (5-Year Plan) By investing in research, development, and infrastructure, we aim to establish a closed-loop system where waste materials are transformed into valuable resources, minimizing our environmental impact and promoting a more sustainable future. Our commitment to sustainability ensures that we contribute to a healthier, more sustainable future for generations to come. Stay tuned for updates on our progress and innovative initiatives. We've come a long way since Jack Johnson sang 'reduce, reuse, recycle'... It's Zero Waste Week at the moment, but we now have 5 R's instead of 3, so I thought it'd just bring them to light and share how this is relevant to us. Refuse - avoid using unnecessary items In our case, we've refused to use single use packaging (you might remember a post about our upholstery arriving with plastic on). We use blankets to ensure that our furniture finishes its journey as it started. Reduce - to minimise the amount of waste We achieve 96% material efficiency on our timber material! That's an insanely high number!! And what do we do with the remaining 4%? We make our samples. Reuse Come on, this one should be obvious. The entire point of the mod system is that it's modular and modifiable, so it can evolve with a space. Quality is also important here. High quality and reconfigurable = a very long life! Recycle I prefer to use this as a last resort option, and we have to make sure that if a material or product includes recycled content, that it can be recycled again. Otherwise, we're just taking a recycled/recyclable material and mixing it with non-recyclable, resulting in all of it going to landfill. Rot - organic, compostable waste. I quite like this one because we could design a product or material with reuse and recyclability in mind but if the next responsible person doesn't care, it could still go to landfill. At least this way, if the worst option is selected at end of life, a natural material is returned to become compost. I'm well aware that what has been mentioned here doesn't factor in very important factors, such as carbon, but I'd be keen to hear your thoughts. Better still, have you seen any great examples / products / materials that we need to know about? #workspace #zerowaste #sustainability #furniture

At Morgan & Morgan, we recognise that the health of our planet hinges on the choices and actions we make today. That’s why we are committed to on our ongoing sustainable efforts. We are proud to partner with like-minded organisations who share our passion for sustainability. Dams is a UK-based manufacturer and supplier of office furniture. With over 50 years of experience, they offer a wide range of products including desks, chairs, storage solutions, and more. Recently they have introduced their waste packaging, recycling and reuse scheme which is the first pillar in their Re.Think sustainable solutions programme. This scheme encourages people to dispose of unwanted packaging material in a manner that is sustainable and environmentally friendly. The scheme provides recycling bags so that customers can segregate their recycling into 4 separate waste streams: Cardboard & Paper, Plastic Packaging & Shrink Wrap, Foam Pedestal Corners, and Wooden Corner Packaging. As part of our commitment to sustainable solutions, we always reuse our packaging where we can. When this isn’t possible, everything gets recycled. While it's crucial to focus on recycled materials, better packaging, and reducing emissions, we often overlook the simple solution of extending the life of products we already own. Instead of replacing, consider refurbishing or updating. The best sustainable choice is less—less waste, fewer resources, and less energy. Arper helps us do just that! https://lnkd.in/gqznaewn
