Skiing in the winter, golfing in the summer - a dream for many families seeking the perfect retreat in Southern Georgian Bay. 🌄 But how do you find the right property that offers the best of both worlds? From my experience, here's how to choose a property that maximizes fun for your family: 1️⃣ Location, Location, Location: Proximity to ski slopes and golf courses is key. Look for properties that reduce your travel time and increase your time on the slopes or the greens. 2️⃣ Space for Everyone: Make sure there's enough room for family and friends. Recreation is best enjoyed together, after all! 3️⃣ Amenities Matter: Access to local dining, shopping, and other leisure activities keeps everyone happy, even on non-ski or golf days. 4️⃣ Season-Ready: Choose homes that are as cozy in winter as they are refreshing in summer. Think fireplaces, hot tubs, and outdoor decks. 5️⃣ Future-Proof: Consider the property's appeal for all ages and stages. Whether it's growing kids or friends visiting, make sure it stands the test of time. Choosing the right recreational property is not just about the house; it's about enhancing your family's lifestyle in every season. How do you envision your perfect retreat? 🏌️♀️⛷️ #RealEstate #RecreationalLiving #SouthernGeorgianBay #SkiAndGolf #FamilyFun

Worth noting in this article is the statistic of over 50% of Americans participation in outdoor recreation and what can further be extrapolated from that is where that affects economic development in and peripheral to these recreation destinations, not just limited to ski resorts but National Parks and other camping/ hiking areas.
Alterra CEO says skiing has reached a “tipping point,” resorts need to ease pain of “really, really mad” customers

10 THINGS TO KNOW BEFORE YOU SKI 1. Know Your Skill Level: Before hitting the slopes, assess your skiing ability honestly. Stick to runs that match your skill level to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience. 2. Weather Conditions: Check the weather forecast before heading out. Knowing whether it will be sunny, snowy, windy, or icy can help you prepare accordingly and dress appropriately. 3. Safety Equipment: Always wear a helmet and appropriate protective gear. Additionally, make sure your bindings are properly adjusted by a professional to reduce the risk of injury. 4. Stay Hydrated and Energized: Skiing is a physically demanding activity, so it's crucial to stay hydrated and fueled with snacks to maintain energy levels throughout the day. 5. Follow the Rules and Signs: Pay attention to signs and markers on the slopes indicating difficulty levels, boundaries, and any hazards. Adhering to these guidelines can prevent accidents and ensure everyone's safety. 6. Learn the Code: Familiarize yourself with the "Skier's Responsibility Code," which outlines etiquette and safety guidelines on the slopes. Respecting other skiers and knowing your responsibilities can help prevent collisions and injuries. 7. Take Lessons: If you're a beginner or looking to improve your skills, consider taking lessons from a certified instructor. They can teach you proper techniques, enhance your confidence, and help you navigate different terrains safely. 8. Be Avalanche Aware: If you're skiing in areas prone to avalanches, educate yourself about avalanche safety and carry the necessary equipment, such as a beacon, shovel, and probe. Additionally, consider taking an avalanche safety course before venturing into backcountry terrain. 9. Stay Connected: Keep your phone fully charged and carry it with you in case of emergencies. Also, share your skiing plans with someone trustworthy, so they know where you'll be and when to expect you back. 10. Respect Nature: Skiing often takes place in beautiful mountain environments, so remember to respect nature and leave no trace. Avoid littering, stay on designated trails, and be mindful of wildlife habitats. #skitips #traveltips #blvuk #bluelotusvacationsuk

https://lnkd.in/d9itTCVr Imagine skiing not just on pristine slopes, but from the sky, carving through untouched powder in remote, jaw-dropping locations where the true spirit of winter adventure thrives. Ski resorts have long been the playground for thrill-seekers, but what if the experience could go further? Picture yourself gliding down backcountry runs, reaching peaks at the highest elevation, or experiencing off-piste adventures that allow you to fully immerse in nature’s winter wilderness. And then, after the rush of the slopes, indulge in the ultimate après-ski—think champagne showers, gourmet meals, and stories shared in cosy mountain lodges. While thousands of ski resorts boast winter thrills, few offer the unparalleled luxury of seclusion, stunning beauty, and authentic adventure. DP has curated a select list of extraordinary destinations where the mountains aren’t just a backdrop, but an invitation to explore the very essence of winter luxury.

There has been a lot of negative publicity lately how skiing in North America has become ‘extortionate' with national media heavyweights like CNN weighing in. Peak-day pricing for single-day lift tickets at top tier resorts are now more than $300 and If you don’t plan ahead, in the US especially, it becomes prohibitively expensive for families to hit the slopes. Powderhorn Mountain Resort on Colorado’s western slope, more than two hours from the state’s big-name resorts along the I-70 corridor, is bucking the trend. Just 40 miles east of Grand Junction, the resort sits atop the world’s largest flat-top mountain, Grand Mesa, and gets roughly 250 inches of Colorado’s renowned dry powder snow a year. The magic carpet and Easy Rider lift keep families busy skiing greens at the base while experts make for the West End for more advanced terrain. “If you want to ski steeps and trees and glades, you can go up top and ski that. If you want to ski some wonderful wide-open blues and greens, they’ve got all of that. I think the only reason that people haven’t heard of it is that it’s just a little bit off the beaten track, which applies to many Colorado resorts,” says Sarah Beatty of Colorado Ski Country USA. Stay in lively Palisade or Grand Junction for all the fun vibes (and abundant breweries) of an outdoorsy Colorado city or opt to book one of the resort’s tiny homes that are a short stroll from the mountain’s base area and main chairlift. Learn more about ski bargains in North America and where to save money while not scrimping on snow and stoke. https://lnkd.in/gemC3GsV
