Assalamualaikum and Ramadan Kareem, As we embark on the blessed month of Ramadan, I extend heartfelt wishes for peace, prosperity, and blessings to you and your loved ones. Ramadan for me is a month of reflection and awareness. As I focus less on fuelling my body, it is my mind that I turn to for deep reflection, awareness, and insights. Often, it is in these moments that my mind is at its sharpest, enabling me to obtain the clarity needed to make important decisions. From my travels and studies abroad, I’ve had the experience of celebrating Ramadan in other lands, yet, it is Malaysia that warms the heart during this holy month. Being an inclusive, multicultural country, Malaysia naturally gets everyone excited and involved in the Ramadan festivities, regardless of race and religion. Some of the Ramadan experiences that only happen once a year during Ramadan are: - iftar buffets at hotels serving local and international spreads - open-air iftar picnics by the lakeside or at popular mosques - Ramadan bazaars and Eid bazaars for a spot of shopping - spiritual talks and retreats by local and international religious scholars organised by mosque and religious centres - taraweeh prayers throughout the country led by renowned imams - social-responsibility activities such as iftar food preparation for marginalised communities While these Ramadan experiences may seem normal to us Malaysians, it’s really something unique that some Muslims may not be able to experience in their own country. Meanwhile, for non-Muslims, these activities provide some exposure and understanding about the Muslim faith. So, let’s seize the opportunities presented by Malaysia's unique Ramadan celebrations. Together, we can create unforgettable experiences that resonate with the spirit of this holy month, and do our part to ensure the continuity of tourism businesses during Ramadan!

We need a sustainable future
Last year, I had the privilege of travelling to the Buddha’s birthplace of Lumbini, Nepal. This deeply inspiring visit re-affirmed my conviction that his timeless teachings of peace, compassion and service to others are the pathway to a better, more understanding and harmonious world for all. My best wishes to everyone celebrating #VesakDay.
