As the landscape of commercial real estate evolves, one of the most innovative trends we're seeing is the conversion of vacant office buildings into residential apartments. This shift not only addresses the increasing demand for urban housing but also helps in revitalizing downtown areas and driving economic growth. The rise of remote work has left many office spaces underutilized. Repurposing these spaces for residential use offers a smart solution that leverages existing infrastructure - reducing the need for new construction and minimizing environmental impact. It highlights the importance of adaptability and sustainability in today's real estate market. #CommercialRealEstate #CRE #RealEstate #RealEstateTrends

This is a great initiative - “Rather than approaching the government with problems to fix, A New Normal identifies specific changes that unlock opportunities, offering a fresh perspective on urban development. “ In actually doing the ‘thing’ we can identify the specific planning, financial, technical, cultural, or regulatory barriers that currently prevent good ideas from existing. This is a different approach to conventional government advocacy and lobbying in that instead of going to the government with problems they have to fix, we are taking every specific change that would help unlock big opportunities”

UK colleagues. Check out this great case study using Social Pinpoint. If you are doing any community engagement on high street renewal, placemaking or are accessing levelling up funding, this is a brilliant case for using digital engagement. #communityengagement #digitalengagement #levellingup
Congratulations on creating a highly engaging online space for community members to share their ideas for transforming the future of South Woodford! 🔮 Prior to embracing Social Pinpoint, The South Woodford Society primarily interacted with residents through offline activities. This led the Society to seek new digital tools in the hopes of expanding its reach online to the wider community. “Social Pinpoint, and the array of digital tools it offers – mapping and community ‘notice boards’ to funding priority tools – is a fantastic way to complement offline engagement. It means that those who don’t have the time or resources to join in-person workshops for example, can contribute. It’s a really collaborative platform, which supports individual ideas and collective discussions. The South Woodford Society are pioneers. What they are doing really is a blueprint for what a community can create. Making changes to planning policy is truly difficult. The South Woodford Society should be celebrated – they’re just brilliant. They are a women led group and they don’t take no for an answer.” View The South Woodford Society's journey below! 👇 #SouthWoodford #England #London #UK #CommunityEngagement

Continuing to share my ideas (while further developing my writing skills 🖋) in the latest post titled 'Panopticons in Modern Cities', where I ponder upon the feeling of being watched in a big city. Should there be a line between being exposed and having privacy in a public space? 🔎 Let me know what you think about my latest contribution to 'dexd Perspectives' blog! #urbanplacemaking #publicspaces #inclusivedesign #cxdesign #designthinking

𝐔𝐫𝐛𝐚𝐧 𝐃𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐠𝐧'𝐬 𝐈𝐦𝐩𝐚𝐜𝐭 𝐨𝐧 𝐒𝐨𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐅𝐚𝐛𝐫𝐢𝐜 The design of public spaces, streets, and buildings plays a crucial role in shaping the social fabric of a city. More than just the physical layout and aesthetics, it is about creating spaces that encourage social interaction, promote inclusivity, and foster a sense of community. Cities are full of intricate social networks that help connect people and provide essential resources in times of stress and places where these connections flourish are referred to as social infrastructure. The possibility to build connections and be part of a community is an important element of all good cities and must be addressed in urban planning. Read more at https://lnkd.in/g4hebtwD

How is it that citizens are finding they have to take action themselves to invoke change in their communities? Is it that politicians and city administrators are just out of touch? Is it that the mechanisms to provide meaningful feedback are broken or have not evolved? Is that simply that there is just not enough staffing/budget/contracting capacity to deal with the overwhelming legacy of the urban form that has developed over the last 60-80 years? A combination of the above? Something else?
