This year I challenge anyone in a hiring position to take a chance on someone outside your comfort level. Over many conversations with fellow veterans seeking employment, one common theme I hear consistently is that they struggle to relate their role and job from the military to a civilian verbiage. I know it can be scary giving a chance to someone that you really can't relate their experiences with. I challenge you to give that someone an opportunity. Statistically speaking, veterans have a lower percentage of call outs and usually will go above and beyond to prove themselves in a role given the chance. Veterans come from a position where their job may have had to lead a team of people under critical situations. This year I challenge my fellow leaders to take a leap of faith. You never know when your decision could change the direction of your company In a substantial way for the better.
