The Gerald R. Ford International Airport (GRR) hosted its annual runway 5k this past weekend, partnering with the Special Olympics Michigan raising over $16,000 for the charity. It’s just so nice when everything you’ve planned for months, and all your teams support, allows for a successful and fun event on the airfield bringing in over 900 runners. Thank you to Nora Gagnon and Steven Davidson for your help towing static aircraft and Avflight Corporations participation in all our events. Appreciate the partnership West Michigan Aviation Academy with your student volunteers and C172 display and George Pavey for the aircraft coordination. Sam Ward, Zach and Ward Aviation for the static Learjet display. She’s such a beauty. 🤩 Flying in from Western Michigan University College of Aviation the students brought up their school aircraft for people to stop and admire. Go Broncos!💛🤎 And lastly thanks to our own Corewell Health Aeromed pilots who surprised our runners with an incredible low pass fly by to start the race! My co-commanders Heidi Groenboom and Haley Abbas facilitated planning for landside and I took airside. We were calm, cool, collected, and prepared. And our volunteers from the GFIAA team made this one of my favorite events to work so far-even my assistants Lt.
