There are 16 million people living with disabilities across the UK, making up 24% of the UK’s total population. Many disabled people use Evri’s services, and those of other parcel couriers, each and every day – this enables some disabled people to retain a level of independence, and often provides them with access to medication, medical equipment, and supplies which can be critical in managing a disability 💊 💡Following Ofcom’s review of the postal sector in 2022, we commissioned the RiDC (Research Institute for Disabled Consumers) to conduct our own in-depth research and analysis with a panel of disabled consumers who regularly use the services of parcel couriers across the UK. This research has since helped us to shape our new accessibility policy and process that enables us to better meet the needs of our disabled consumers 📃 Last week, we launched a brand-new option for our disabled customers – when you receive an email notification from Evri with your parcel’s ETA, as a disabled consumer you’ll now have the option to select a delivery instruction that works for you, and your disability. You can now choose from three specific accessibility options, which have been designed with the support of RIDC – once you’ve selected your delivery instruction, our couriers will be notified and will be better positioned to complete a successful delivery that meets your needs 🕰️ We’re not stopping there, though - we’ll continue to evolve this over the next 12-18 months and beyond.
