We are looking for an experienced and knowledgeable Senior Medical Statistician and Statistical Programmer to join the UKCRC fully registered Derby Clinical Trials Support Unit (Derby CTSU). The Derby CTSU actively supports high quality, multi-centre studies in a variety of disease areas sponsored by UK-based and international sponsors. The role will support researchers in trial design, funding application development, statistical analysis and reports, and writing for publications. You will lead various projects for innovation, optimisation and standardisation with developing and applying advanced statistical programming. This exciting role will involve managing and mentoring a team of medical statisticians and is an opportunity to contribute to innovative studies that make a real difference in healthcare. On my first day at work as a CRA, my first manager, Jeroze Dalal , shared a valuable insight: "CR is all about PR." She emphasized the importance of investing in personal relationships (PR) for success in clinical research (CR). Initially perplexing as a newcomer, after two decades, I reflect on her wisdom with gratitude. In the realm of clinical research, the pivotal role of human connections cannot be overstressed. Collaboration among principal investigators, #patients , #clinicalresearchcoordinator , #cras , #projectmanager, #datamanager , #statistician , #medicalwriters and other stakeholders is integral. A study's triumph hinges not solely on scientific rigor but equally on robust interpersonal bonds. PIs lead research, necessitating effective communication and trust-building within their teams. Patients, the center of clinical studies, benefit from compassionate interactions fostering compliance and understanding. CRCs bridge gaps, requiring adept interpersonal skills for smooth operations. CRAs uphold data integrity, relying on cooperative relationships with site staff. The interconnected web of relationships augments study reliability and ethical conduct. Open communication, mutual respect, and collaboration contribute to a conducive research environment. Ultimately, clinical research success transcends methodology precision, relying on a human-centric approach. Nurturing strong relationships ensures ethical conduct, participant safety and well-being, and advances medical knowledge with a humane touch. #clinicalresearch #personalrelationship #humancentricity #lifelessons
