🚗 Wrapping Up Last Week's Automotive IQ Software Defined Vehicles (SDV) Event, where we delved deep into the future of automotive technology. Through insightful panel discussions with Florian Rohde Augustin Friedel 🚲 🛴 🛵 🚘 Narendra Atmakuri Santhosh Jogi, MBA and engaging interactions Ansgar Lindwedel (he/him) Rinat Asmus, several key takeaways emerged: 1️⃣ SDVs Present Massive Business Opportunities: While there’s incredible potential, the consensus is that we haven’t yet tapped into these fully. We’re still awaiting a true, fully-realized product in this space. 2️⃣ AI in In-Vehicle Infotainment: While AI-driven infotainment systems may grab headlines, the real value lies in more practical applications, such as AI for testing and automation within engineering teams. Florian Rohde and I agree -- testers do not want to write test cases -- here comes AI to do heavy lifting. 3️⃣ Partnerships Are Key to Success: A significant portion of the community strongly believes that SDVs won’t be commercially viable without strategic partnerships. Building the entire technology stack independently is not only difficult but also financially unsustainable. 4️⃣ The Talent Challenge: Developing SDVs requires polymath talent—professionals who are proficient across a diverse range of skills, including embedded and cloud systems, systems design, sensor/actuator integration, runtime environments, device drivers, and, critically, software craftsmanship. Finding such well-rounded expertise remains a major challenge. Rinat Asmus 5️⃣ Platform Software Stack Independence: To truly scale SDVs, there’s a growing consensus that this requires a platform software stack that is independent of hardware. This platform must be versatile enough to integrate with various hardware targets, enabling flexibility across different vehicle architectures. 💡 The discussions were inspiring, and it’s clear that we’re just at the beginning of this transformative journey. Every part of the end-to-end value chain will look different after this software-driven transformation. Underlying these changes are evolving expectations: those of manufacturers, regulators, and most important of all, the end-customers.
