A Belgian offshore wind energy firm has installed the first electric charging station at sea, aiming to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from maintenance and transport vessels. Parkwind's innovative system is now operational at its Nobelwind wind farm, allowing vessels to use locally generated green energy directly. The firm claims that the method enables ships to connect to the charging line and remain stationary while charging, despite sea currents. This initiative supports their mission to generate clean energy while minimizing their environmental footprint. 💥 And boom! Our WISE – Wide and Intelligent Sustainable Energy ecosystem is now officially launched. The launch event happened at Vaasa EnergyWeek and gathered a full house. ✨ During the launch Markus Ljungkvist, Vice President of Energy Services presented the aspiring ambition of the project: “Energy transition is already underway, and WISE project will further accelerate this transition towards a fully decarbonised future. We need collaboration and investments in R&D to speed up the development of innovative clean energy concepts.” “A decarbonised energy sector is inevitable in the future. The only question is when we will get there. The WISE initiative brings together industry expertise plus research and academic know-how to accelerate the trend. It gives us a unique opportunity to become the leading powerhouse for the energy transition,” says Anders Lindberg, President, Wärtsilä Energy.
