Exciting funding opportunity for Cities (anywhere in the world)! The Bloomberg Philanthropies Mayors Challenge is open for applications, offering a chance for cities to develop innovative solutions to improve service delivery and tackle pressing urban challenges. This prestigious challenge will empower city leaders to think creatively and implement bold ideas that enhance the quality of life for residents. Cities with 100,000+ residents are eligible to apply, with mayors or city officials invited to submit their proposals, encouraging global collaboration and knowledge-sharing. Each winning city will receive a $1 million grant to implement their innovative idea, alongside dedicated project staff. Awardees will also join a network of innovative cities, connecting with fellow leaders and changemakers. I think this is more than a funding opportunity – it's a platform for cities to showcase their creativity, urban solutions, innovation, collaboration with residents, resilience, and commitment to excellence. When I saw the opening, I couldn't help but imagine what this money could do for my city. Deadline for application is 20 December 2024; share this opportunity with your city leaders and help transform your city. 😊 And if you're asking, yes, I have shared with mine. https://lnkd.in/dHMsygsE

Our partnership with New Local on #community led #regeneration has turned out to be impeccably well-timed as #planningreform continues to top the political pops. It's really got me thinking about how we can deliver the new homes and infrastructure we so desperately need in a way that meets communities' needs and aspirations for their areas, rather than leaving them feeling that development is something that is done to them by others. Obviously #planning is only one piece of the jigsaw, but what do you think? How can planning reform meaningfully unlock genuinely community-led development? ▶ Where are there examples of communities shaping, designing or directly leading regeneration plans? What can we learn from successful approaches to inform a wider approach? ▶ How can existing sectors, professions and disciplines work together with communities at the heart of projects? What skillsets, cultures and funding are required to support this? ▶ How can a national framework enable community-led regeneration to take shape in practice?
