What happened on JUNE 30th, in history? 1520: Following an Aztec revolt, Spanish conquistadors are expelled from Tenochtitlan during "La Noche Triste" 1860: Charles Darwin's theory of evolution was debated at the Oxford University Museum 1938: Superman 1st appears in DC Comics' Action Comics Series issue #1 1906: President Theodore Roosevelt signs the Pure Food and Drug Act (also known as the Wiley Act), marking a significant achievement in federal regulation of the food industry. This act prohibited the interstate transport of unlawful food and drugs, emphasizing product labeling rather than pre-market approval. It aimed to ensure the safety and accuracy of food and drug products for consumers. Since then, we have come a long way in ensuring consumer safety thanks to regulatory compliance! #RegulatoryCompliance #MDR #MedicalDevices #FDA

"Blackmail"....plain and simple. There's a price war going on between Eli Lily and Novo Nordisk with patients getting caught in the middle. According to the Journal, Novo Nordisk has responded by increasing its rebates for Wegovy, with average discounts climbing from about 35% to 51% of the list price in the second quarter. A spokesperson for the manufacturer told the outlet that the price of Ozempic has decreased by 40% since its launch after discounts, and Wegovy's net price is following a similar downward trend. But to threaten eliminating all rebates with utilization management is extortion (IMO). #drugs #prescriptions #obesity #employers #employees #pharmacists #pharmacies #physicians #patients #consumer #pbms #brokers #advisors #attorneys

It appears that the OCM is facing allegations of retaliatory enforcement against industry stakeholders who have voiced criticisms about the state’s handling of the legal marijuana market. Concerns about potential retaliation include the fear of losing or being denied licenses and experiencing selective enforcement. Ruben Lindo, an entrepreneur and founder of Blak Mar Farms, suggests that there’s an enforcement bias against those who speak out. Similarly, Jenny Argie, a licensed processor in the New York cannabis market, noticed an increase in illicit products and voiced her concerns. Despite her efforts to operate within the legal framework, she feels the state’s inaction towards illicit products is problematic. These concerns have been heightened by recent events, including the OCM’s first recall of a cannabis product and subsequent actions, which are bringing these issues to the forefront. The situation is complicated further by allegations involving a top state official who is perceived as hostile towards individuals disagreeing with the OCM’s methods. This situation seems to reflect broader tensions within the emerging legal cannabis market in New York.
There's a lot to unpack in Wesley Matthew Flores Parnell's new story about fear and potential retaliation around the Office of Cannabis Management. This story took quite a while to report due to the circumstances – everyone is afraid to speak out – and I'm super proud of Wes and the folks who came forward to help get this article out and to the public. ---And yes, Wes is the "reporter" in the line: "The day after the story published, Fagon called a NY Cannabis Insider reporter, yelling, cursing and singling out Argie by name as the source of the leaked audio."
‘Terrified to criticize’: Accusations of hostility and retaliation surface against NY’s Office of Cannabis Management
