Happy Pi Day from WBD! March 14 marks the celebration of Pi Day to recognize pi (π), whose numerical value is approximately 3.14. Some fun facts about pi include: 1. Pi Day was first celebrated in 1988, and founded by Larry Shaw, an employee of the San Francisco Exploratorium. 2. There is no end to the value of π. As an irrational number, it does not end after a certain number of digits but instead just keeps going and going and going.... 3. One common way to celebrate Pi Day is by eating all sorts of pies, whether they're sweet or savory, or even pizza! Just as π is never-ending, so is our commitment to excellence and innovation in our consulting services. Let's continue to help others #MakeBetterDecisions! #PiDay #InfiniteOpportunities

It’s #PiDay and with Pi we don’t refer to our company name but to the mathematical constant π 🧮. Pi Day is celebrated on March 14 - or in the short American date format 3/14 - because the first three numbers of π are 3, 1, and 4. Fun fact: Some Pi lovers celebrate Pi Day and Pie Day on the same day - with a pie in the shape of a circle 🥧, of course, since π is defined as the ratio of the circumference of a circle to its diameter. #piday #pieday #mathematicalconstant

A question for readers, fellow journalists, cocktail imbibers: what do you think of "changing" an interview question after the fact? Interviewing Trevor Kallies, director of bar and beverage for Science of Cocktails at Science World, last week one of my questions was "Were there any cocktails that have just kind of crashed and burned? Set the place on fire or anything like that?" Not a bad question, to be sure. But when transcribing and editing the interview for print/online I changed it to: "Have there been any cocktails that have crashed and burned? Set the place on fire or opened up a rip in the multiverse?"—making the interviewer (me) look a little more imaginative than he actually was, at least at that time of the morning. So what do you think? Bad journalistic practice? Or within acceptable bounds of sprucing up the piece for reader consumption? Science of Cocktails takes place tonight, April 11, at Science World. You can read more about the annual event at the link below. Note: the story includes a recipe for a peanut butter old fashioned! #scienceofcocktails #Vancouver #journalism #cocktails #fundraisers #science #recipes

Here’s why the ordinal scale is the best scale of measurement! I went to a party a few days ago. Not the usual party—this was a stats party! Where I saw: 📏 Nominal brought the name tags. 📏 Ordinal ranked the snacks from best to worst. 📏 Interval set the temperature just right. 📏 Ratio measured drinks so everyone got a fair share. Honestly, I go to parties just for the food. That’s why I think ordinal is the best! It tells you which snacks to grab and which to skip!😉 So, which one would you hang out with at a party? #psychology #statistics #research
