Central Ohioans - I urge you to join me at the table as a participant in the Central Ohio Climate Action Plan. Regional (within- and beyond-state) planning is honestly the ONLY way any progress will be made in the United States towards getting serious and making progress reducing carbon emissions. That’s what is needed: rapid decarbonizing away from fossil fuels, and carbon emission reduction. No amount of engineered carbon capture or ‘net zero’ greenwashing is going to accomplish what’s needed at the RATE and SCALE we have remaining. Keep your eagle eye **on the actions and the data**, not the talking points and consultant reports, that governments and private sector actually DO on this issue. The DNR's Air Management team, in partnership with the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and a number of Milwaukee-area organizations, is setting up a study to provide publicly available, real-time air sensor data in a Milwaukee community where a variety of air pollutants have been monitored for decades. This project is designed to identify areas where air quality disparities exist and help identify mitigation options that can be locally implemented to resolve the disproportionate impacts. Two developments toward the end of 2023 have clouded the future of climate policy in the Pacific Northwest. First, opponents of Washington’s Climate Commitment Act submitted more than 400,000 signatures to the Washington Secretary of State’s office supporting Initiative 2117. Second, the Oregon Court of Appeals struck down Oregon’s Climate Protection Program, concluding that the Oregon Department of Environmental Quality did not provide proper notice when it adopted the program by administrative rulemaking. #TheEnvironmentalLawFirm #Washington #Oregon #ClimateChange

I would like to thank all the partners and steering committee members of the Cincinnati OH-KY-IN MSA for preparing our regional Priority Climate Action Plan (PCAP) for the US EPA's Climate Pollution Reduction Grants (CPRG) program. It was truly a team effort to reach this important milestone.
